(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Hola members on NGU, I recently bought a laptop (HP Envy) and had the option to put custom parts into it, so I decided to go with a Nvidia GeForce 650M 2GB Dedicated Graphics, Graphics Card.

I have noticed after playing some games on Steam, that when I select my options for video quality it tells me I have - Intel 4000 HD Graphics, but then when I play Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, It says I have a GeForce 650M.

Can anyone tell me why this is please??
Thanks. :y:

"Intel 4000 HD Graphics" is the integrated graphics portion of your CPU. It's also what will be used if your dedicated graphics card fails or is removed from your laptop or something. Basically, don't worry about it.

Sounds like power saving to me. Its not going to use the actual video card when you aren't doing anything.

I remember one of my friend facing this problem, he got the Integrated Graphic Card used when he was playing "Low-Graphic games" and his Dedicated Graphic Card (HD Radeon 7850) would automatically start to be used when played a "high-graphic game".. I'm sure there isn't much of a problem.

If I remember correctly there's an option in the BIOS to turn off 'switchable graphics' so you're always using the 650M.

I had an i7 Laptop that had Intel HD Graphics and a Radeon HD 6490M, turned off the option in the BIOS so everything used the 6490M and not the weak-ass Intel HD Graphics.
