because i already went over budget so i wanted to keep it as low as possible

Your perception on how much wattage is needed is completely misguided.

An overclocked i7-3960X + a single GTX 970 at full load consumes <300W.
An overclocked i7-3960X + two GTX 970 in SLI at full load consumes ~450W.

Unless you're going to crossfire two high-end AMD GPUs (known for being extremely power hungry), such as the R9 290X, you don't need any more than 600W. Just pick a high-quality 500-600W PSU; fyi, Corsair CX is not. I tend to pick my PSUs from Seasonic and Seasonic rebrands, such as XFX.

Good point actually. I really should have thought more about what I will be showing jnto this thing before just buying a 750w PSU in fairness.

Still never hurts to be prepared just incase lol. I do agree that corsair is a little bit hit and miss with there products although saying that in my previous desktop the PSU is still going strong which is again a corsair that was probably why I decided to go that route again :/
