We're talking about a $100 difference here. And how much you're willing to spend. The Zotac has more cuda cores, and better core clocks and roughly the same clock speeds when boosted. I personally would just go with the 970 by MSI. You're saving about $100 or more for almost identical specs. But if you have the money and are willing to throw down then by all means get the 980. I'd still go with the 970 though.

GTX 970 if you're into older games
GTX 980 if you into newer games.

They're literally of the same series. There won't be any issues running newer games. Hell, I'm running a GTX770 with no problems on any new titles.

Well, comparing it FPS wise, wouldn't there be any difference? I remember doing a YT research back when I was planning to build my PC and I seen a 10-20 FPS difference on same games.

There can be slight differences in fps but its usually negligible and is dependent upon resolution and quality options.

Yeah. Plus if OP wants to play cs:go and eventually purchase a 144hz monitor both cards will have absolutely no problem. Hell I usually push 300+ fps out of my 770 on csgo.
