I'm really attracted to the 1000 model because it is easy to mod, but I would like a warranty (3000 model) seeing as how almost all electronics I buy end up having a problem within a year (I'm cursed).

I don't really have a budget either. But I just want to but the system, not really into getting system-game bundles (unless there is a significant pro).

Get the first one cos you can get all kinds of stuff on it (hacking) the newer psps cant do anything like that

If you want it cheap , get a 1000 model , but if your a legit game buyer and money isnt a issue get 3000
