Sony has confirmed that the PlayStation VITA will enjoy its first major firmware update on February 8, tuning in a pair of new features and some amount of minor changes to the handheld gaming powerhouse.

There is no clear indications whether it is safe to update to the new version or if there is any exploits being patched in the process as we are still waiting on SKFU’s announcement.

Previously, SKFU confirmed that the 1.52 firmware update with following:

Tech4′s exploit still works

Wololo’s HBL still works

Everything I research atm didn’t change from 1.50 to 1.52
