From the article: We have received a tip from a source close to the gaming community that Sony plans on announcing something at E3 that will be on the scale of "when Sony announced GTA: San Andreas'timed exclusivity".

I know a lot of you have been asking about the secret PlayStation 3 exclusive we told you about in the past, and I also know we haven't given you an update on the matter in quite some time. In fact, we've refused to talk about it for over a year.

But perhaps the days of silence will soon be over. We have this...oh, let's call it a feeling, that the game in question will be announced at the Game Developers Conference in a few weeks. It takes place in mid-March and based on the information we have, it seems like a distinct possibility that 'insert secret game name here' will be revealed to all at that time. For the record, it is not Resistance 3, which we expect to see this Friday on GameTrailers TV. That one is a given and wouldn't exactly be surprising. I suppose this exclusive we know about won't be too surprising, either, but it certainly hasn't been officially announced or revealed, which is why we've kept quiet. We're half-tempted to just blurt it out right now, but we keep our damn promises. Yeah, we keep 'em for years, if need be. In all honesty, we've been a tad concerned that we haven't heard anything about this project; any time this happens, the words "Duke Nukem" hover ominously in the air, taunting us with the depressing "vaporware" possibility. But we're fairly certain this is gonna happen...it's just a matter of when.

And that "when" could be fast approaching. I'm still not entirely sure why Sony has treated this whole thing like a CIA black bag operation - who the hell ever heard of a game you can never talk about? - but hey, we abide. Someone will have to explain the reason for all this secrecy at some point, though. Stay tuned.

You may have heard it here before: we are aware of a truly huge PS3 exclusive title that hasn't been announced or confirmed as of yet. Now, as we have promised to keep the game under wraps, we still can't tell you what it is... But with the recent price drop, the introduction of the PS3 Slim, and more reasons than ever to have a PS3 in your entertainment center, we wanted to give you one more.

First of all, don't bother e-mailing us with desperate pleas; those e-mails will go unanswered. Secondly, you can theorize and speculate all you wish but you must always bear in mind that we did not confirm a damn thing. Thirdly, and this much we can almost promise: the game in question is something the vast majority of gamers will likely enjoy, and the only hint we can give you is that it is familiar. Well, we're talking about a massive upgrade over the last installment, but nevertheless...familiar. The good news is that we might be able to spill the beans on this as early as January or February, but we're at the mercy of Sony right now. Our source - who is no rumor-starter but the game designer currently working on the project - says his hands are tied on the issue, and we'll continue to respect that. But if everything goes well, we'd like to think this game will be ready to go by the end of 2010; that may seem like a ways off, but we consider it a damn good reason to own a PS3.

You know about Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, God of War III, MAG, Ratchet and Clank Future: A Crack in Time, Gran Turismo 5, Heavy Rain, and The Last Guardian. This title will have a place in that elite group as soon as it's announced; you can be guaranteed of that. Oh, and if any of you are wondering if there's a chance the game will go multiplatform: no. Anything related to the word "exclusive" is big news these days, primarily because there may soon come a day when nothing in the video game world is "exclusive." But they're still around, especially for the PlayStation 3, which is looking forward to the likes of Resistance 2, Killzone 2, InFamous, M.A.G, Gran Turismo 5, Final Fantasy Versus XIII, LittleBigPlanet, etc.

And according to the latest big rumor, another is on the way. PlayStation LifeStyle has said a brand new exclusive PS3 game - one that is apparently super-huge - will be announced on August 3. More "hints" will come on July 26 (not sure why that day is so special), but until then, everyone is going to be forced to speculate on whatever this might be. They do say it has "nothing to do" with Square-Enix's private event held later on in August, so we can rule out anything related to Final Fantasy, but beyond that... We're not putting a huge amount of stock in this information right now, but if it's true, we'd love to think it's Team ICO's new project, which wasn't unveiled at E3. We're certain they're working on something, and we're relatively certain it's exclusive to the PS3, but we've had no news on the actual game(s). Other than that, we're at a loss.

It could be a game that will debut at Leipzig, but why announce it before the convention? We have a whole lot of questions, and without anything official from Sony, we're not about to tell you to put a big red "X" on August 3 on your calendars. No guarantees, friends.

Inside scoops are tricky. They're especially tricky when they funnel through a number of other sources, each of which could put a little spin on the initial tip.

But we'll take this quote at face value and hope that Sony has something big planned for E3. According to PSInsider, they have "received a tip from a source close to the gaming community" that Sony will make some sort of exclusivity-based announcement at this year's E3. Now, the name "Grand Theft Auto" is mentioned in the quote in question but that doesn't really mean anything; the insider is only making a point. Here's the quote-

"For this year E3 I've got just one hint. Do you remember the E3 where Sony anounced they have GTA: San Andreas as a time-exclusive deal? Expect huge bombs at this E3. I used GTA as an EXAMPLE - it does not mean Sony will announce anything from R*!! I just meant what they announce will be as huge as the GTA deal - you get it right?"

No, we're not guessing at GTAV exclusivity for the PlayStation 3. That's just plain absurd; Take-Two wouldn't eliminate nearly 40 million potential customers for no reason, and Sony couldn't possibly compensate them for all those lost sales. Something as big as GTA will indeed remain multiplatform; we're relatively certain of that. But what else might it be? Could it be the return of another franchise that went multiplatform but will come back to PlayStation? Or is it something entirely new? Guess we'll have to wait and see.

To be brutally honest, I just hope that it IS San Andreas again :p
