March 23, 2010 - Microsoft has confirmed the launch of a standalone 250GB hard drive for the Xbox 360 in North America. The drive is on sale starting today, according to the company. The upgraded hard drive will retail for $129.99.

Microsoft would not confirm the discontinuation of the 120GB hard drive, only saying the price has been reduced to $99.99 "while supplies last." Reports of short supply seem to suggest it may not be around much longer, however.

The upgraded hard drive was originally an exclusive pack-in for the Xbox 360 Modern Warfare 2 bundle. Japan was the first region to receive the standalone 250GB drive.

Well I think that Xbox is just trying to keep up with the competition because Sony made a 250GB Ps3.

I think Xbox will have to go big and beyond in order to keep up with Sony because they were talking about 3D gaming and the PlayStation Move I think before long Xbox will be a thing of the past.

(Just my personal thought. Tell me what think)

I only ever had a 20gb xbox HDD and never used more than 14 GB however the ps3 i bought 3 weeks ago has already used 30gb, xbox has no need for such high capacitys without browser support. So personally i dont think it would be smart to buy one of these.

Also to add to the death of xbox 360, blu-ray has over 5 times the memory capacity of a standard game on the xbox so therefore sony wins. Xbox's end has begun.

This Info is great to work with.
Also on my XBox i'v used 64gb when you download games from
marketplace takes up alot more space.

xbox may use the space for what would have been PS3 exclusives due to disk space aka half game download

or they could just stick with 2 or 3 disks

xbox may also getting download moves ect

tbh its a waste if u want to watch movies get a pc (the best) or ps3 even the smalest shittyest 1 will do

ps3 surpasses xbox is so many ways its about time people realise and spent the little more cash for a ps3

Xbox have had movies for ages, but there only valid for 2 - 4 days (cant remember exactly) so therefore when they are deleted you free more space.

I like the ps3 because it is free to play online and sony dosent pay to get Map packs first.
also the xbox dosent have the browser which is really nice if your computers broke or something like that!

But i like how $20.00 dollars usd is $20.00 psn money
