In a recent interview with Kotaku.com, Activision have spoken about the firings of Jason West and Vince Zampella of Infinity Ward, and the recent lawsuit they filed against the two Modern Warfare creators.

"Activision's cross-complaint filed today against Jason West and Vince Zampella makes clear that the company did not arrive at its decision to fire them lightly or without good reason. It further shows Activision was forced to sever the relationship when it became apparent that long-standing attempts failed to convince West and Zampella to conform their conduct to what was required of them by their contracts, company policies and as fiduciaries."

"As a direct and proximate result of this breach of the covenant of good faith and fair dealing, Activision has been forced to commit additional resources to Modern Warfare 3, institute litigation to seek a declaration of rights, and incur costs and attorneys' fees, and will incur additional expenses in connection with securing the benefits of the MOU."

"Accordingly, Activision has been damaged as a result of West and Zampella's actions in an amount to be proven at trial."

Nearly a month ago, Zampella and West filed a lawsuit against Activision, and now, Activision have struck back, filing their own lawsuit againt the Infinity Ward developers. Published in the Los Angeles Times, the lawsuit contains details of how they "hijack Activision's assets for their own personal gain."

The Times highlighted two key excerpts:

Activision [stated] in its 23-page complaint that "West and Zampella's misdeeds formed an unlawful pattern and practice of conduct that was designed to steal the [Infinity Ward] studio, which is one of Activision's most valuable assets — at the expense of Activision and its shareholders and for their own personal financial gain."

The lawsuit says Zampella and West went "on a secret trip by private jet to Northern California, arranged by their Hollywood agent, to meet with the most senior executives of Activision's closest competitor."

It is thought West and Zampella are involved with Electronic Arts, Activision's biggest rival in the gaming industry, with titles such as Battlefield Bad Company 2 and Medal of Honor.

That's why Mw2 is going down the drain.. They have to worry about making a map pack and releasing it, they have to worry about a lawsuit, and a bunch of big names are leaving IW. I wonder what it might come dome to...

Although I didn't see anywhere in your sources anything about MW3. The post linked above does have a source for reference to MW3 being produced by Sledgehammer. Which was recently aquired by Activision
