Now that Activision and Bungie are partners, many people wonder what the future for the two are. This article should help to clear up what their plans for the future are.

As I was reading the beginning of the article, I came across a rather good point that I think many others, excluding hardcore Halo fanatics, would agree with:
The first Halo game was, in a sense, revolutionary. It created a boundless universe, and had a great story to go along with it, that really could keep a player going until the very end.
Then came Halo 2, that carried with it, and improved upon, the combat and other concepts of the game. Something I had always noticed, though, was that it got worse in another aspect: Story. It really didn't seem like, to me at least, like the story was of utter importance in Halo 2, and that is was made more so to be a "shoot 'em up" title for multiplayer gamers.
Then there was Halo 3 and ODST, which were definitely good in terms of graphics, but did not bring along with it the revolutionary feeling that came along with the original Halo. That is especially disappointing because Halo 3 was the first Halo game for the Xbox 360. Even said, I must say that I did love Halo 3. ODST, in my opinion, did the same thing as Halo 2 did, so no need to explain further.
Now, in present day, Halo: Reach is on the horizon, being the last game Bungie will be producing for the Halo series. That is bad news for Microsoft, but great news for Playstation 3-only gamers who have yet to play any of Bungie's titles.
So Bungie is going multiplatform, something we've expected to happen sooner or later for some time. What is interesting is the path they are likely to go down: Massive Multiplayer Online or Online Only titles.
Their huge success with multiplayer in Halo games is likely the reason that they want to focus on it now. They seem to have a strong belief that they can create something spectacular in terms of multiplayer gaming, bridging gamers all over the world together.

I personally am skeptical that Bungie will be able to pull off a revolutionary online experience like they're going to try to do. Things like M.A.G. have tried in the past, and while they are a great deal of fun, they certainly aren't revolutionizing the online gaming world, except for the obvious, being the increase in the number of players in a single lobby.
Edit: Bungie was also asked if they would be interested in making a Call of Duty title if given the opportunity. They responded with this:
"It's not something that Bungie is interested in."
It is without a doubt at this point that Bungie is dead set on creating something entirely new, and not carrying on another series. I do commend them for that, as I would very much like to see a new, and possibly very successful series come about.
Give me your thoughts!
