Konami USA has confirmed to Shacknews that "Hideo Kojima will continue working on Metal Gear Solid games," though the company would not clarify if this meant Kojima would be writing or directing future entries.

At E3 2010 in a discussion with Shigenobu Matsuyama, the producer of Metal Gear Solid Rising, many questions were raised including; a question about Rising's place within the Metal Gear Solid canon.

Mr. Matsuyama's response to this, via a translator, was that Konami are not quite finished with the MGS franchise.

"I've been asked a lot, 'Is this going to be a side-story or spin-off to the MGS series?', but what I'm positioning is that there will be a Hideo Kojima game that is MGS, but what we are planning as Kojima Productions is have this Raiden Rising as almost as a standard so that there's an MGS and the Rising going back-and-forth in the future."

Although this statement could be linked to the Metal Gear Solid 3 for Nintendo 3DS.

This claim comes as a shock as Metal Gear Solid 4 was set to be the last MGS game directed by Kojima, but he then went on to produce the recently released Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker.

Not to much was given away at E3, we hope to hear more on this matter at the Tokyo Game Show 2010 this fall. Perhaps whether it will be available on all platforms.

In my opinion, I would love to see another Metal Gear Solid released as MGS4 was an outstanding game, a different third person shooter, that captivated many gamers. Also the use of a great story line really did help get the gamer interested. I think it will be on most gamers want list if and when it hits gaming stores across the world.

Feel free to post your views on the topic.

Would you like to see another MGS?
Any themes you would like to see?
Or any comments you have in general Smile

Cheers,

Winty

The man clearly doesn't want to work on MGS, it's a shame Konami is pressuring him to continuously do so.
