Sony had an impressive lineup this year at E3, and that is being modest. With games such as Killzone 3, Grand Turismo 5, and Infamous 2 being show. Yet Sony decided to show the new Twisted Metal game, with the simple title Twisted Metal to be end their press conference.

So, what's so special about this new Twisted Metal you may ask? Well, for one thing, it brings back the classic gameplay from the Playstation 1, with updated graphics.

Don't Believe me? here's the E3 Trailer

Now, just because the game has great graphics, that doesn't mean it will be good, but this game has addictive gameplay that is sure to captivate anyone who plays it.

The story of Twisted Metal is along these lines:

Calypso, the creator of the Twisted Metal Tournament, has created another tournament where the contestants fight in modified cars that have rockets, lasers, machine guns, etc to win the Tournament. The prize for winning is whatever the winner wants, there is no limit to money or anything like that. The player steps into the shoes of one such contestant, who is vying for the thing he wants most, which is unknown to the player.

While the Single Player component sounds fun, the Multiplayer component is where Twisted Metal shines.

So far, 2 modes have been released for Multiplayer, Team Death Match, and Nuke.

Team Death Match is pretty standard, and no need to explain. Here is a gameplay video:

As for the other mode, Nuke, this is highly anticipated to be more popular than TDM.

In Nuke, there are 2 bosses who, are known in the Twisted Metal series, for instance, Sweet Tooth and Doll Face. They have a gang of people who are in similar clothes, the cronies' job is to protect their leader while trying to stop the other team from literally Stealing their leader.

Once the leader has been taken to a Control Point, the leader has to be held there by the opposing team for a certain time period, and then the leader is thrown into a flaming trash compactor, which then gives the player the option to fire a missle. The missle, when fired, flies directly into a statue of the opposing leader, and the entire goal of Nuke is to destroy this statue.

Here is some gameplay for the Nuke Mode:

Overall, I think that this game was a great way for Sony to close out their E3 this year. Just about anyone who has played the original Twisted Metal started to feel nostalgia from the original after seeing this, and it will be an awesome game when it releases in 2011.
