(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Interview done last night. So here is Schaffin's interview. Smile Enjoy!

Winty: So let us begin, so where are you from Schaffin?

Schaffin: I am from Saint Louis County, Missouri. I was born and raised here.

Winty: Nice, all these Americans I am interviewing are making me jealous, would love to travel over the water, so how did you come about finding NGU?

Schaffin: Funny you say that. I actually would like to travel to the United Kingdom and Europe in general someday. Anyway, I came to NextGenUpdate for the sole purpose of finding hacks. Even now, I'll get messages from people here and there who remember me in those days. You can tell when I was here for hacks, and when I decided to stick around. Vast improvement.

Winty: Same as others generally I see and wow! Look at you now, Super Mod from nothing in a matter of a couple of months, what is the story behind that?

Schaffin: Ah, yes, the question of the day, it seems. A lot of people get the impression that I "suck up" to the administration in order to obtain promotions. That certainly isn't the case. I simply feel I was in the right place in the right time each time I was promoted. The fact of the matter is that there are plenty of members of staff I feel deserved promotions more than me, unfortunately that simply wasn't the way it worked out.

Winty: Nice, and yes people did complain about your promotions, due to the quickness, I didn't really know much on the matter, just saw you changing colours every couple of weeks haha, were you in talks with Carling or Outie over the promotions at one point, when you didn’t know much on the matter?

Schaffin: I'll be honest; there have been times when I did push Outsider for a promotion. The fact of the matter was that I'm simply doing my best to help the site out as much as I can. I'm not afraid to admit that I've discussed these sorts of things with him, because at the end of the day it was his choice, and not something that occurred due to putting pressure on him. There were times when I simply pointed out that I'd be more useful in a certain field, and I was able to back that up with my moderation around the forums and in the reported post section.

Winty: Interesting and yes at the end of the day it was Outie's choice, and I respect you for saying, so what gave you the urge to become a staff member?

Schaffin: Well, this somewhat links to what I hope to do later on in life. I originally was interested in joining the News Crew, as one of my career goals is to become a journalist. I thought that it would be a great experience for me, and indeed it was. Coincidentally, the other field I hope to go into is Law. Being a moderator involves enforcing, understanding, and perceiving the rules in different scenarios. I also just like to put my own time and effort into what I see as a great community that is only getting better.

Winty: Now that is ambition for you, and will give you great credentials and experience for that, you also seem very intellectual with your posts, so your name obviously I can see where it came from as I know your name but for those who don't where does it come from?

Schaffin: Well… It came from a few places, actually. Let’s start from the top. When I first got PSN, I didn't know what to make my ID. So, after long and intense thought, I decided to go with something simple: "Schaffin". Now many people pronounce it SHAY-Fin, when in all actuality it was intended to be S Chaffin, which is my first initial and last name. When people started pronouncing it that way, I decided to begin pronouncing it that way myself. There were a few more ID's thrown in there, but SchaffinOSX is simply a combination of my name, and my preference of Mac over PC. "OSX" actually stands for Mac Operating System 10. At the end of the day, though, not many people say it like that, nor do I.

Winty: Very interesting so less of the NGU side of things, and now to gaming, what are you favourite games and your view on gaming in general?

Schaffin: Gaming is something that I really lost a lot of interest in throughout my 8th grade - freshman year. I've been regaining an interest recently, though. I tend to stick around First Person Shooters, though I love games like "Saw", "Uncharted 2", and most definitely LittleBigPlanet. I guess when it comes to gaming; I'm all over the place. Just give me a disc, console, TV and controller and I'm bound to have fun.

Winty: Yes, my interest in gaming has lowered also, but well may pick up again when something new and fresh that I like is released, so other than gaming, what are your hobbies and interests?

Schaffin: Reading and writing, I suppose. Some people know that I've been working on a story of a sort, but I took a break recently due to some writer's block. In terms of reading, I'm referring to news and things of that sort. I try to stay politically aware as often as I can, considering I'm hoping to enter politics someday as well (stemming off of my Law career). Another thing I absolutely love is swimming. It's relaxing, but at the same time great for you.

Winty: Wow, this is all very interesting, so the question people want to know is, when are you becoming one of the guys in red?

Schaffin: July 2— Kidding. Someday I hope to get the honour of serving the site as an administrator, but right now I'm not worrying about that. I think of it like this: Moderators are the Law Enforcement, and Administrators are the Legislators. I think I could be a great administrator, but I understand that I have a lot of work to do as a moderator first. No Super Moderator can be 100% sure of a promotion. Also, I really don't think I've done enough as a member of the Moderating Team quite yet to move on. Like I said, in the future I hope to serve as an administrator, but for the time being I think my place is as a Super Moderator, helping out as much as I can in keeping things clean and under control.

Winty: Haha, hopefully we will see you there, fulfilling that goal as well as other Supers so Cal wants to know, will you write a thread essay on him?

Schaffin: A thread essay? I swear people will never let me live these things down… Give me a few minutes, and I could probably have an essay about him finished up.

Winty: Yes, I don't think you will either, although I have to say I quite enjoy reading some of them, better than just writing one word replies and play I am sure he will hold you to that one.

Schaffin: There have actually been times when I've intended on writing shorter posts, but I simply cannot get all I need out without making something rather long. I try to cover all aspects of whatever I'm posting about to ensure all of my points are made / defended.

Winty: Best way to go about it, it would seem so any last words for aspiring members on NGU?

Schaffin: All I can say is keep posting! There are the bigger and better known members of NGU, but it's the members no one knows that really keeps the site going from day to day!

Winty: Cheers for that Schaffin and thanks for your time, hopefully this will answer the members questions and show them the true Schaffin.

Schaffin: Indeed, I definitely hope so. Keep up the good work, Winty.

Winty: Thank you sir, I will try and it's been a pleasure

Schaffin: Great interview.

Comments Appreciated.

Feel free to ask any unanswered questions you may still have, I am sure Schaffin will be happy to answer them.

is it just me or do these interviews seem a bit too "formal"?
Oh, grate interviews by the news team, I just think they are a little to mature, for the general audience only being 13-15.

It sounds like you enjoy pizza a lot.
You must login or register to view this content.(type the site in there) The info that he posted was public. I don't know why you're getting so worked up about it anyway when the whole situation is already over. :p

Anyways, great interview as always :y:

I remember Schaff from the old days at PSU before he came here. He's a great guy who honestly wants to help this community. He seems robotic but I love busting his balls on AIM =D. He's even wrote a speech for me so I could run for VP of my school, even though I didn't use it LOL.

"...simply feel I was in the right place in the right time"
It's right place at the right time.
How can you be in a right time?
I've always wanted to correct Shaffin =D

Anyway, Nice to learn something new about a very good Moderator.
