A hacker on YouTube has claimed that he is testing the worlds first PS3 mod-chip. According to the hacker, the games can be loaded off an external memory device, and it supports all firmwares. He points out that it is still in testing stages, but nothing has been proved as of yet.

when new firmware comes out you can't update you system until they find a work around...
It's kinda over price.. but it's new..
PS: how do I know it works? because I have 1 with different brand name on it... got it like 1 month ago from asia... I paid 100us dollar for it...

I want my console to be hack free please.
As long as this mod doesn't make pirated PS3 games and DLC a problem I won't mind. Oh and I would hate it if this mod gives people "steroids". I want fair gameplay.
Just my two cents...

You know what, I just realised Asia has the best source for ps3 tools.

Man, I wish I could go to Japan or Hong Kong just to see if they sell ps3 stuffs XD

This will allow pirated games, DLC may be able to be cracked in some way, However you would need to at least rent the games first, looks like blockbuster will have customers now.
