With heavy rivalry between Sony and Apple on handheld gaming, the next PSP will be designed with touch screen controls. Many gamers will be upset while others will be delighted. The touch screen control system makes it harder to play full on 3D 'complete' games. Indie developers run rife on iPod at the moment. The new PSP will have more computing power than the iPod and so I expect we will see professional games from professional studios.

Since it's in heavy rivalry, I assume we will also see exclusives and the porting of some current iPhone apps to PSP. Myself, I would have preferred the analog stick as it allows for greater depth of control, the PSP has always been a handheld console for the core gamer and it seems Sony are changing this. Nevertheless, I assume we can see higher quality games on the iPhone in any case. It'll be interesting to see how games such as God Of War and Metal Gear Solid face touch screen controls.

The New PSP is rumoured to release in late 2011 so the image here is most likely a prototype.

Im definitely going to buy this

tbh id much rather have a handheld gaming device that feels like im really playing a game no all this touch screen non sense theres something that jsut wont be good with touch screens and i think this will be one of them

cant wait for this to come out

hopefully there are buttons but you can still use touch screen on certain games :love:
