Taliban characters in the upcoming game: Medal Of Honor

<font face="verdana" color="black"> At this moment in time, as I'm sure you know, NATO forces are fighting the Taliban in Afghanistan. The Taliban are an armed force of terrorists that commit atrocities daily. They kill civilians almost for sport. They are waging a guerilla war against UK and USA forces. Bomb disposal teams are in a living hell, IED's are practically everywhere. Around 7,500 IED's were used in 2009 in Afghanistan.

Medal Of Honor takes place in Helmand Province. This is the 'hot-point' of the Taliban. However, they can't bomb it since civilians are there as well. The war is tough and difficult. The people in the land are in terror of the Taliban and are murdered and abused by them. In Medal Of Honor Multiplayer (unsure about Single Player) you may play as the Taliban. This has caused outrage in the United Kingdom and some gamers living in Afghanistan and neighbouring countries have felt physically sick and couldn't move due to disgust after seeing the characters on screen. The Game is likely to be banned in the United Kingdom.

I am disgusted and angry. It's hard to believe any citizen of our country would wish to buy such a thoroughly un-British game. I would urge retailers to show their support for our armed forces and ban this tasteless product

Personally, I'll probably buy the game (if I can), however, I do see these points and while I believe that video games shouldn't be considered in terms of morality as reality I do understand and I'll probably only be slightly uncomfortable about killing United Kingdom Soldiers. However, in previous hit games such as the Call Of Duty series, you've been able to kill United States soldiers. These games haven't been banned in the USA.

To tell the truth, I hope that Medal Of Honor won't be banned in the UK. It's one of the biggest and greatest game series of all time and I'm excited that it's making a comeback. The United States Army is working directly with it, from a professional point of view it's had the best trailers for a video game yet. However, the Defence Secretary will have a lot of leeway and it's definitely possible that UK gamers won't see the game hit their shelves.

The format of the new Medal of Honour game merely reflects the fact that every conflict has two sides.

We give gamers the opportunity to play both sides. Most of us have been doing this since we were seven: someone plays the cop, someone must be robber.

What do you think?

You'd be surprised bro, people aren't taking something to seriously unless it is serious, their are many other 'enemy' groups all around the world, but the taliban, they are the craziest of them all, they are more than an extremest group, now, though i dont really care at all, i i can tell you that people who are effected by this extremest group will be offended in a lot of different ways, how would you feel if their was an american extremist group who killed someone in ur family, and then someone made a video game showing it back to you? Not so good i imagine, i say this with all do respect Smile And like Knight said, they do this almost as a sport, imaging that? A sport of killing your own people? Thats really messed up. Soooo you know... lol :P

Ya, I understand where you are coming from, I lost loved ones in 9/11 in the plane that hit the pentagon, the only difference is that I don't take that game personally, it was not intended to be offensive towards those who lost loved ones and nor should it be viewed like that and the UK goverment is blowing it up into something that it most defonitely is not. There is a clear difference between Taliban and Opfor in CoD4, there is also a clear difference in MoH enemy forces and Taliban, it just seems UK and them banning things like that makes me angry, it's not the fact that they banned MoH, it's the fact that the goverment has so much power over their people that they can censor what ever the **** they want and I can't stand that.

I mean a guy dies, in a Video Game, that's about war. Britain suffers casualties in the Middle East, same with every country that fights there. There's no denying that. America didn't have a problem with General Shepard going rouge and plotting against his country. Brazil doesn't have a problem with all of the Rebels in Rio (Favela) getting killed. I mean come on, British Secretary, stop making a big fuss about it. If anything, it should be the citizens choice whether to buy it or not, you don't choose for them.

I am error
I know this is a touchy topic, but I can't think of anything serious to say without insulting a certain side.

Instead, I'll say this:

The BETA sucked ze big ones. Personally, I will not buy the game just because of how terrible the controls/hit detection/faction system is.

I am The Cyber Police!
We have been playing as the Nazis for years, and in MW2 you play as the OpFor, which stands for Opposition Force, kill american soldiers. The Opfor could easily be the Taliban, or any other terrorist organization in the world. I can see the other side of the argument but banning a game because a series of ones and zeros kill an other series of ones and zeros. These are merely computer programs and because I kill some ones and zeros that take the form of our military or an allies military doesn't mean I disrespect them in anyway. I hope this game is not banned any where. *steps off soap box* Thank you.

That is rediculous of them to do. I really hope it isn't banned there, for the UK gamer's sake.
