<font face="verdana" color="black"Taliban Characters in Medal Of Honor sparked controversy

This thread is on the subject of Taliban being in the Medal Of Honor game and killing UK soldiers in-game. Read all about it You must login or register to view this content..

Since the Taliban are terrorists and you play as them, killing UK soldiers in Multiplayer, United Kingdom Defence Secretary was 'disgusted' and wants the game to be banned from retail in the UK.

Lt. Col Hank Keirsey is the main military advisor for Call Of Duty: Black Ops. He's talked a little about Taliban soldiers, all in the nature of the matter.

They're not fighting for Al-Qaeda. Maybe one or two of them is. Most of them are fighting 'cos they've always fought.

They've got what someone told them is a foreigner in town. They're gonna come down from the mountains with their little AKs and rally with other guys and try to beat the foreigner out of there. You gotta get into your enemy's mind set. There's courage on both sides.

People are always looking at something to throw at the gaming industry – it's all cracked up bad.

The Lt. Col. certainly does have a point. It's not as if the soldiers aren't courageous and not all of them are terrorists. However, some of them still are. It's true that people love to say bad things about the game industry since there are insane amounts of violence in many modern games. Keirsey says he just wants them to replicate it and capture insight into the people. He doesn't want it to be just run and gun, killing others but he wants there to be some sort of story line to it and a valid reason why this is happening.

Keirsey also mentioned 'Operation Anaconda' a 2002 battle between NATO forces against Al-Qaeda and Taliban Troops in the 'Shahi-Kot Valley'.

The Shahi-Kot Valley.

Keirsey tells it was a very intense battle from which people may learn a lot of lessons regarding human courage and human mistakes.

If we can somehow replicate that fight and get some insight into it, I don't have a problem with it. No more than I have a problem with doing World War II or the Pacific. But I suppose somebody might,

I believe Keirsey wants us to view the people's points of views and the vastly different culture and beliefs on either side that want to fight. Now that we've heard a professional soldier with experience in the gaming industry's point of view, what do you think? Medal Of Honor knew what a dangerous area they were stepping into on creating a game of a war that currently rages on. Rather than a hazy memory, atrocities are fresh in the mind and we know more about the war, it's more 'real' so to say.

A big thankyou to psychobe@n on bringing this news to my attention!

In my man cave
Kind of funny how we are allowed to make games of us killing people but when their is a game of people killing England soldiers or American soldiers, everyone gets all mad.
