San Juan, PR - Several years ago, Microsoft moved its company management division and duplicate copies of records to Humacao in Puerto Rico.
Thus, there are prepared discs of programs such as Microsoft XP, Office and video games published by Microsoft Game Studios (Halo, Forza, etc.).
On yesterday, a rumor reached my ears that had taken some records of Reach Halo Microsoft factory, and that they were being sold on the street. I also indicated that several of the people who bought the records, played on their consoles the Xbox 360 and is connected through Xbox Live for online play. As a result, the day after federal agents arrived, accompanied by personnel of Microsoft, to house these people to return the discs and inquire about how they obtained them. This was the rumor.
Today, as I prepared for my segment (Gaming Update) in the Mega Circus, I spoke with our news department and contacted the relevant divisions of the FBI and ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement). The FBI nor denied, nor confirmed that has an ongoing investigation and ICE, which is the agency with jurisdiction over intellectual property theft, said arrests have occurred or any investigation into this matter was not under his supervision.
Once I finish communicate the rumor and the answer from federal agencies through the airwaves, we received a call from a listener who confirmed the rumor. This person told us that a young adult who bought the CD on the street went to work and his younger brother put the disc into the console and tried to play online. The next day, as had been rumored, came two identified as FBI agents, along with an employee of Microsoft Security home and confiscated the disc. Also, they threatened that failure to report who sold you the disc, would be facing any charges related to the issue. It also shows that a total of 100 copies of Reach Halo on the street.
We contact the Press Officer Microsoft Puerto Rico and indicated that they have nothing to comment at the time.
