Hack Turns Kinect into a 3D video capture tool

Writer's Note: Before writing this post, I'd like to be fairly honest with you all. When it comes to console / video capture jargon, I'm the last person to come to. Nonetheless, I do my best to bring you information concerning these types of things. Please excuse me if I misinterpret something. Of course, feel free to call me out on it, and I'll fix it ASAP.
It seems that the hacking community has done it again, this time in a way we see much less often. The recently released Kinect has already been hacked, but not in a way that's going to ruin / enhance anyone's experience. This is one of the few hacks that is, well... amusing.
UC Davis visualization researcher Oliver Kreylos, with the use of infrared and colored cameras, as well as a custom program, to create a stunning 3D virtual reality environment.
