Sony battles Microsoft with there own reward system.

This thread outlines the new reward system Sony has not revealed for Playstation. It includes its own tiering system with each tier progressively giving out better rewards.

Well here it is Sony has revealed there reward system to combat Microsoft's only days after the launch of it, although Sony's system is still in a Beta and may not be introduced until early 2011. Well it was always coming as the two companies are always after each other, what one has the other must update to get. The main difference between the two systems of rewards is that Sony's has tiers to it, just to make it more complicated than it already is. This gives different rewards depending what tier you are on. Well as you know Microsoft's rewards give you Microsoft points back for your purchases.

The basics of this reward system include:

The PlayStation Rewards program tracks consumer activity, including the following:
Game titles purchased*
Purchases from the PlayStation Store
Purchases made within PlayStation Home
Videos rented and purchased from the PSN Video Download Service
Consumer engagement, such as Blog/Forum activity, Beta test participation, etc.
*Titles are credited to a PSN account only if that account is the first to play that particular game disc. More on this in a next few pages.

By participating in the Rewards program and purchasing PlayStation products, you can advance your Rewards status and get access to:

• Exclusive PlayStation®Network avatars
• Dynamic themes
• PlayStation Home content
• Member-only sweepstakes, events, and giveaways
• Monthly PS Rewards emails with news, program updates, and opportunities.

One of the requirements for PlayStation Rewards membership is agreeing to accept at least some Marketing communications from PlayStation®. This might include simply signing up for periodic emails from SCEA on the PlayStation.com website.

So now you have the basics down, here is where it gets more complicated with the tiering system Sony have come up with:

  • Member - Newly enrolled. Rewards will be minimal
  • Select - You’ve reached the first benchmark, and your rewards will reflect
  • Pro - Mid-Level status
  • Legendary - Top tier, eligible for the most valuable rewards

Well at least PlayStation players will begin to get something back and the tiering system will separate players up and will give you something to aim for if you want better rewards. Hopefully it does not take too long to become legendary.

The rewards are only helpful if you are a big gamer who spends a lot of money. I'm just a casual gamer who buys some call of dutys, rock band, and some sports games.

So, in conclusion: F*ck this.

Microsoft is just trying to be more advanced then Sony - Theres only one problem. Microsoft keeps copying everything Sony does.

Pedo made an article about Xbox Rewards - Sony released the beta to Playstation Plus members a couple months back.

Why don't they try to do something original?

Ummmm, am I the only one that has noticed that the title should be their not there. Just thought I'd let you know before trolls get something to sink their teeth into :carling:

But I can't see anyone but PS+ members profiting from this really.
