Yes it still works, and no you cannot corrupt your save unless you turn off your sony while its saving.

copy the gamesave to your flashdrive and then make a backup to your computer m8 ;-)

I have done this many times and it works fine so you don't have to worry about it corrupting. If your so worried, just backup to your computer.

If you are that worried as well do not do this. There is always a chance that it could mess up but that is the chance you take when doing this kind of stuff
