jailbreak is pretty easy just trying to find out where and how to install pkg on the ps3. so where can i get pkg and how do i install them.

this is exactly what ive been trying to find out. i was able to jailbreak with no problem but when i try to do the pkg i cant open it..if you figure it out please let me know. thanks bro

this tutorial helped me alot but you lost me on the last part. idk why but i didnt have patch on the right (USB) side, only on the left. and i tink i accidently erased the patch on the left (PS3) side. can i get this patch back or do i need it? i Really thought i had it figured out until the very end of the video..can someone help me out? maybe i need to download and save a patch on my ps3 and then the patch will be back on there? what patch should i use? i'm a noob to this stuff lol thanks

1 - Download any .pkg file, you can find some 3.55 homebrews on this page: You must login or register to view this content..
2 - Get a USB stick and plug it in your PC.
3 - Put the .pkg file in the root of your flashdrive.
4 - Go to your PS3 and plug the flashdrive there.
5 - Navigate to the Game Tab
6 - Choose Install Package Files
7 - Select the test.pkg
8 - After it installs you will find the package installed below the Install Package Files folder.

Ok people so GeoHotz has now released a NEW CFW.
This CFW has to be installs on the OFFICIAL FIRMWARE from the Playstation Website
This is link for the OFFICIAL firmware. You must login or register to view this content.
This is the link to download GeoHots Custom Firmware . You must login or register to view this content. Click the word Jailbreak and Unzip the file.
Basically what you need to do is follow these instructions :

1. Download the OFFICIAL firmware from the link above.
2. Create a folder on the Usb called "ps3" inside the "ps3" folder create another folder called "UPDATE" then inside there copy the Firmware youve just downloaded.
3. Now go to your ps3 insert the USB and click update via USB.
4. If it installs from there jump to step 6.
5. If that doesnt work then you need to swithc off your ps3.
i . Press and hold the power button until the console switches itself off
ii . Press and hold again until you hear a beep and then another two. You are now in Recovery Mode.
iii . You should now be able to click system update through the recovery mode.
6. After installation head back to your PC and delete the PS3UPDAT.PUP file in the UPDATE folder and replace with the unzipped Geohot 3.55 JB.
7. Plug USB back into PS3 and do system update again. it should pick this firmware up on the normal update screen.
8. If installed correctly you should hear a number of beeps (normally 8-9) and then your console shut down.
If it hasnt been installed correctly you should hear 3-4 Beeps.

This Update will not allow us to play games from Back Up Manager but WILL allow us to sign our own packages asif Sony signed it. therefore Use programs not normally allowed.
If your wanting To Host Challenge Lobbys You do NEED to do this.

Hope this helped and the FTP SIGNED server Will be released shortly.
