Some new features that have been confirmed for BattleField 3
Recently DICE has not released a lot about the BattleField 3 multiplayer features and they have focused more advertising on the campaign. However, you will be glad to hear they have confirmed some of the multiplayer aspects that will be in the game.
- Amount of players: 64 players on PC, 24 players on Xbox 360/PS3.
- No 'Commander' mode: They are removing 'Commander' mode.
- 4 classes: The same as Bad Company 2.
- Battlefield 2 maps: A few BattleField 2 maps will return in a DLC called “Back to Karkand”. The maps are: Strike at Karkand, Gulf of Oman, Wake Island and Sharqi Peninsula.
- New squad features: DICE have said, “We have some really cool things that we’ll show later when it comes to dictating how you play with friends“.
- Weapons and unlocks:Battlefield 3 will have more weapons and unlocks than previous games.
- Longer unlocks/Further in ranks: An issue with Bad Company 2 was that most weapons were unlocked before gaining most of the ranks. Dice have said, “We’re also making sure that there is a reason for you to reach the top rank. It doesn’t just end. There will be a lot of focus on persistence and how we present stuff to the player.”
- Jets will return: The US F18 and Russian Mig 29 have been spotted in various trailers.
- Prone will return: DICE have said prone will return.
- Killcam: Killcam will be back and it will be a feature that can be turned on and off.
- Co-op for the single player campaign.
Hope that helps you realise that this game will beat Call of Duty this year.

I've heard they're going to have destructible environments, can you confirm/debunk this?
