How to Port Forward!
This is possibly one of the hardest things to do when starting a minecraft server. This guide should tell you how, but if you are still having trouble, get in contact with me and i'll TeamView you!
Lets go!
Step 1. Click the start button in the bottom left hand corner and search 'cmd'. It should look like below. Now right click on cmd.exe and press 'Run as administrator'.
Step 2. A black box should appear. Type 'ipconfig' and press enter. It should like the image below:
Step 3. Scroll up and it should look like below. Now look for the '
efault Gateway' field and next to it is a number which should look like '192.168.1.x'. Step 4. Get that number (in my case, 192.168.1.254) and enter it into the web address field of your browser. A box will pop up with a text box for username and password. Enter 'admin' for both or if that doesn't work, just 'admin' for the username.
If none of those work, call your router company for the default password.
Step 5. Now your router config should pop up in your web browser. (Don't mess around with this to much, especially vital services). Look around for 'Port Forwarding'. In my case, it was Advanced>Configuration>Virtual Server>Port Forwarding. (Again, if you can't find it, call your router company. On some routers, it may not be possible
)Step 6. Now copy my settings shown below and hit 'Save'.
For the IP address field, do steps 1 - 3 and instead of getting the '
efault Gateway', get your 'IPv4 Address'. That number is your Local IP and should be put in the IP field.Now run your server, and join using your IP! (To find your IP address, click [url=whatismyip.com]here[/url]).
And your done! Hopefully it works. If it doesn't, contact me and i'll do it for you!*
