Back in February, Activision told us that they were putting the Tony Hawk series on hold and had no plans of a 2011 game for the franchise. Now, a new Tony Hawk is planned for 2012 if the comments from the skateboarding god himself are true!

In an interview with PixelatedGeek, Hawk was queried as to whether or not gamers can expect more Tony Hawk games in the future. He responded, "We're going to do something probably for next year but I can't give too much away." Activision officials have said they still see potential in the franchise, saying in December that Tony Hawk has the staying power of Michael Jordan.

Can't argue with the Michael Jordan reference. Every time I think of skateboarding, Tony Hawk comes in mind.

Meanwhile you can play the most recent Tony Hawk, "Tony Hawk: Shred." The game was developed by Robomodo and sold under 3,000 units in its first week. It was the second game to use the Tony Hawk skateboard accessory.

Here's a video to refresh your memory.

I hate the uber-tough achievements on these games....4 mile long grinds, 2 mile long manuals, and 5 bagillion point combos....still fun to screw around on though.
