First of all, this isn't confirmed, this is just a rumor, but here's the list anyway. This isn't copy paste, because I edited and shortened it. I also included my own opinion about the gun (if it's on BC2). I'm level 43 on BC2, so I know the game pretty well.
Shortenings:
BF2= Battlefield 2
BF2 MC= Battlefield 2 Modern Combat
BC= Bad Company
BC2= Bad Company 2
BF1942= Battlefield 1942
BF1943= Battlefield 1943
A.K.A= Also Known As
AR= Assault Rifle
LMG= Light Machine Gun
SMG= Sub Machine Gun
BTW= By The Way
HC= Hardcore
Rex= MP-412 Rex (Sidearm on BC2)
[multipage=Assault Rifles]
I recommend to use Magnum Ammo and 4X Scope (ACOG) for every AR, so I won't write that on every gun
The assault rifles in Battlefield 3 are expected to include weapons from previous Battlefield games.
All of these were in BC2. The assault rifles in Battlefield 3 are:
M16A2
You must login or register to view this content.
The M16A2 has been featured in BF2 & BC2 (others were normal M16). It's confirmed that it will return in Battlefield 3.
The gun is accurate and fires at three-round bursts.
My opinion (based on my experience in BC2):
Excellent gun, fires its bursts very fast and it's also very accurate.
I've platinum star on it.
HK 416(A.K.A M416)
You must login or register to view this content.
The HK 416 is expected to replace the M4 and M16 as the main assault rifle for US forces. It's already being used on the world as a replacement for the M16/M4. It appeared in Bad Company 1 and 2, and it will probably be in Battlefield 3 as well.
My opinion (based on my experience in BC2):
Best assault rifle in BC2, outstanding damage and accuracy, also very accurate. I recommend to fire it as bursts.
I've platinum star on it.
FN2000 (A.K.A F2000)
You must login or register to view this content.
The FN2000 was featured in Battlefield 2, and a Belgian-made assault rifle is used in many nations in Europe. It's also appeared on Bad Company 1 and 2. It’s expected to be in Battlefield 3.
My opinion (based on my experience in BC2):
It just sucks, very poor damage and accuracy, but very fast fire rate. Fast fire rate doesn't help much, if you have to shoot one magazine per guy. Use it only on Hardcore.
I've one gold star on it.
Steyr AUG ( A.K.A Stg.77 AUG)
You must login or register to view this content.
The Steyr Aug is an Austrian-made assault rifle used around the world. I was featured in both Bad Companies and it's rumored to be one of the main assault rifles in Battlefield 3.
My opinion (based on my experience in BC2):
Like M416, but slightly inferior when comparing these guns. (Accuracy and damage), still pretty good gun. Surprisingly good when fired at hip.
I've 5 gold stars on it.
AEK-971
You must login or register to view this content.
The variety of AK-47, the AEK-971 is the main rifle of the Russian army and was featured in both Bad Companies. It's expected to be main battle rifle of the Russians in Battlefield 3.
My opinion (based on my experience in BC2):
Pretty good, but I just haven't used it much (used mostly AR's that got available later). Accuracy, damage and fire-rate are ok. (Sorry for bad info, but I really haven't used it much). Only silver star in BC2.
[multipage=Sniper Rifles]
The sniper rifles in Battlefield 3 will be comprised of real world rifles that are in service in many armies around the world. All of these were in BC2.
M24
You must login or register to view this content.
The M24 is the main sniper rifle for the US Army. It has been featured in Battlefield 2, Bad Company 1 & 2, and it's expected to be the main sniper rifle (of the US side) in Battlefield 3.
My opinion (based on my experience in BC2):
Very good gun, especially when it was first sniper rifle available. Excellent damage and accuracy (obvious, since it's sniper rifle). I recommend to use it on hardcore (it's good at core too, but you don't have to hit in the head on hardcore). I've 7 gold stars on it.
M95
You must login or register to view this content.
The Barret M95 (A.K.A .50 Cal) is a sniper rifle used for long range and armor penetration (in real life). It was featured in many Battlefield games (BF2, BF2 MC, BC and BC2) and it will be included in Battlefield 3 as well.
My opinion (based on my experience in BC2):
Damage is, well awesome as well as accuracy. Use magnum ammo with it and you can get one-shot kills on core (must hit on neck or upper body). Also very good for point whoring (Marksman headshot bonuses). Only down side is slow reload time.
I've platinum star on it.
Type 88
You must login or register to view this content.
Type 88 is a Chinese made semi automatic sniper rifle. It appeared in the previous few Battlefield games (BF2, BF2 MC, BC and BC2) and it will probably return in Battlefield 3.
My opinion (based on my experience in BC2):
Some like it some doesn't, I'm one of those who doesn't. Damage, accuracy and fire rate are ok, but it doesn't kill with one headshot

. Many would say "Play hardcore then, it kills with one headshot there", but I prefer either SVU (since it's silenced and faster fire rate) or bolt actions (M24 or GOL).
I only have bronze star on it.
SV 98
You must login or register to view this content.
Russian made bolt action sniper rifle SV 88 is the main sniper rifle for the Russian army. It was featured in Bad Company 1 and 2, and is expected to return in Battlefield 3.
My opinion (based on my experience in BC2):
Pretty much as M24, but I personally don't like its scope. It's matter of taste, some like it some doesn't.Still, pretty good gun, just harder to get headshots, I recommend hardcore.
I've one gold star on it.
[multipage=Machine Guns]
Battlefield 3 will feature many machine guns used in previous Battlefield games. All of them were in BC2. Unfortunately "The Rape Machine" A.K.A M60 isn't there.
Notice: I won't write that "fire in bursts" in each LMG, because that is obvious. So fire in bursts for better results.
M249 (SAW)
You must login or register to view this content.
The M249 light machine gun, also called as SAW (Squad Automatic Weapon), has been the main LMG of the US Army since 1984. It has featured in BF2, BF2 MC, BC and BC2.
It’s still the main LMG in the US army and will return in Battlefield 3.
My opinion (based on my experience in BC2):
It isn't bad, but it's damage and accuracy sucks, its fire rate and magazine (200) save it, so it's usable weapon. If you want better LMG, with good magazine and fire rate, just use T88 LMG.
I've silver star on it.
PKM
You must login or register to view this content.
The Russian made PKM was introduced in the 1960s and has been widely used around the world. The PKM is expected to be the standard LMG of the Russian and/or Middle East forces in Battlefield 3. It has been on BF2, BF2 MC, BC and BC2.
My opinion (based on my experience in BC2):
It's damage and accuracy are good, but I just haven't used it much. (just like with AEK-971). And overall it's pretty good gun too (especially for first gun)
I've silver star on it.
MG36
You must login or register to view this content.
The MG36LMG is based on G36 assault rifle, but it uses a heavy barrel for increased heat resistance and accuracy. It was featured in BF2, Bad Company 1 and 2 and is expected to return in Battlefield 3.
My opinion (based on my experience in BC2):
I like it, you can have "free" specialization, when you don't have to select sights. I recommend use ammo instead, so you have a lot of ammo then. It's damage and accuracy are pretty good.
[multipage=Sub Machine Guns]
For the support classes in Battlefield 3, a variety of popular sub-machine guns (SMGs) will be available, and it’s expected to be based on guns in previous Battlefield games (BC2, all of these were in BC2). I haven't played much on engineer in BC2, so not so good advices this time.
UMP-45
You must login or register to view this content.
The German made UMP-45, short for “Universal Machine Pistol”, is a widely used sub-machine gun in the world, it's also popular among police and special forces (among with MP5). It’s been a popular SMG in various Battlefield games (BF2 MC, BC and BC2) and will return in Battlefield 3.
My opinion (based on my experience in BC2):
I thought it was better (because of MW2 :p), but it isn't bad. Good clip size (32), accuracy and damage, but range isn't the best, but it's same problem for all SMG's. Its lower fire rate and recoil means that it's better with medium range rather than some SMG's (PP2000, UZI ).
I've one gold star on it.
AKS-74u (We call it sometimes as "Aksu")
You must login or register to view this content.
The SMG version of AK-47, AKS-74u is the main SMG for the Russian special forces. It was featured in BF2, BF2 MC and two Bad Company games, and will be in Battlefield 3 as the main SMG of the Russian/Middle East forces.
My opinion (based on my experience in BC2):
I don't know why, but it's my favourite SMG in BC2.
Maybe because of its medium damage and low recoil, its accuracy is pretty good as well.
I've 2 gold stars on it.
SCAR-L
You must login or register to view this content.
The SCAR-L is a silenced, fully automatic carbine rifle first introduced in the Spec Ops expansion for BF2, and has since appeared in two Bad Company games. The gun is expected to make a return in Battlefield 3.
My opinion (based on my experience in BC2):
Pretty good gun, high damage, good clip size (30), and low recoil. This is like UMP, good at Medium-Long range, but not so good as close range, due its lower fire rate.
I've bronze gold star on it. (Just haven't used it)
UZI
You must login or register to view this content.
The legendary Israeli made, popular SMG is used around the world. It was introduced in 1950 and has been in use since. It has been featured in BC and BC2 and it’s set to return in Battlefield 3.
My opinion (based on my experience in BC2):
It's good at close range and I like it more than PP2000, its fire rate is awesome and accuracy is tolerable, but not bad (as in PP2000). However, PP2000's recoil is much better. Good gun to use as close range, but you can also use PP2000 or USAS-12.
I've one gold star on it.
[multipage=Shotguns]
Battlefield 3 will naturally include plenty of close combat weapons, chief of which are shotguns. ( All of this were in BC2 too)
Remington 870 (A.K.A 870 Combat)
You must login or register to view this content.
The Remington 870 is the main shotgun used by the US forces. It was introduced on 1950 and is still in use today. It was featured on BC and BC2, as it name was "870 Combat", and it's set to return in Battlefield 3.
My opinion (based on my experience in BC2):
Good gun, but I prefer NS2000, even through these two guns has exactly the same stats (damage, damage multipliers, accuracy, recoil and rate of fire.) Only difference is reload speed, that's why I use NS2000. I recommend that you use 12 Gauge Slugs and Magnum Ammo, so it's effective as long range. (1 hit kill for upper body at VERY long range). I also recommend that you use assault class, that you won't run out of ammo.
I only have bronze star on this and SPAS-12, because I used NS2000 and Saiga 12.
Saiga 12
You must login or register to view this content.
The Saiga 12 is a Russian-made semi automatic 12 gauge shotgun based on a AK-47 loading mechanism. It was first featured in Battlefield 2 and has since appeared in Bad Company 1 and 2. The Saiga 12 is expected to be back in Battlefield 3.
My opinion (based on my experience in BC2):
My favourite shotgun, i really don't know why, I just like it. Can you believe it, I've platinum star on it :wtf:.
If you've quick trigger fingers, you'll love it.
Basically, I like it because:
- I use Magnum Ammo and 12 Gauge Shells ( I recommend for those), so it kills with 2 hits in long range, and in close range, I just can spray
- I use assault class, so unlimited ammo and C4's (good class for destroying houses BTW)
- Hardcore, kills one shot, and if it doesn't, you can spray many shots.
So, it's good for both long and short range, excellent damage, accuracy and recoil.
As I mentioned before, I've platinum star on it.
SPAS-12
You must login or register to view this content.
Italian-made SPAS-12 is a pump action shotgun used mainly by the US Army. It was featured in the last few Battlefield games (BF2 MC, BC and BC2) and it will reappear in Battlefield 3.
My opinion (based on my experience in BC2):
Read 870 Combat tips
USAS 12
You must login or register to view this content.
The USAS 12 is a Korean-made fully automatic shotgun which uses 6 or 12 round magazines. It was introduced in the 1980s and has since been adopted in many armies around the world.
It was featured in BC and BC2. The USAS 12 is set to be back in Battlefield 3.
My opinion (based on my experience in BC2):
I really don't like this gun, I've used Saiga instead of this. This is very good gun for close range, just use Magnum Ammo and Extended Ammo. It doesn't have too much ammunition (especially when you spray on it) so use assault to fix that. Like with all shotguns (especially for Saiga and USAS, since thay are good at close range), it's good to blow up buildings with its C4. It's damage and clip size (when extended ammunition) are good while recoil and accuracy are pretty bad.
I've bronze star on it.
[multipage=Pistols]
Battlefield 3 is set to receive a wide array of pistols and sidearms. While its predecessor (BF2) had a limited selection of handguns, Battlefield 3 is expected to have many sidearms Here are the guns expected in Battlefield 3:
Beretta M9
You must login or register to view this content.
The Beretta M9 is a 9mm semi-automatic pistol that is the standard sidearm in the US Army. The gun was introduced in 1990 and has been featured in all modern-day Battlefield games (BF2, BF2 MC, BC and BC2). It will probably be the main pistol of the US forces in Battlefield 3.
My opinion (based on my experience in BC2):
What can I say, low damage, recoil and average accuracy. Just like you expected the first pistol to be, not very good.
I've bronze star on it.
Mp-443 Grach
You must login or register to view this content.
The MP-443 Grach is a new Russian handgun introduced in 2003 and has since been the main sidearm of the Russian forces. It’s a 9mm design that clip size is 17. It appeared in Bad Company 1 and 2 and is expected to be in Battlefield 3 as well.
My opinion (based on my experience in BC2):
Poor damage, high fire rate and good clip size. Very good for spraying and on HC. I still prefer M1911.
I've 5 gold stars on it. (Just because I had platinums on M1911 and Rex, I tried to get platinums for all handguns, excluding M93R.)
Beretta 93R (A.K.A M93R)
You must login or register to view this content.
The Beretta Model 93R is a burst fire version of the M9.It uses the same 9mm ammunition, and it can fire 3 round bursts. It was featured in BC2 and is likely to return in Battlefield 3.
My opinion (based on my experience in BC2):
IT SUCKS. Good things first:
- Very high fire rate
- Big magazine (20 rounds)
- Usable in HC (I recommend M1911 or rex instead)
Bad things:
- VERY low damage
- You have to use entire clip per ONE guy
- Because its very low damage, you lose your ammunition very quickly, unless you use assault kit.
- Extremely bad recoil
- Being useless piece of crap
I've bronze on it.
M1911
You must login or register to view this content.
The M1911 is the longest serving weapon in modern history, being in use for 100 years since its introduction in 1911. It fires powerful .45 APC rounds and is one of the most popular handguns in the US military. It has been on BF1942, BF Vietnam, BF 1943 and BC2 The M1911 is expected to appear in Battlefield 3.
My opinion (based on my experience in BC2):
Best sidearm in my opinion. It has high damage, great accuracy and low recoil. It's fire rate and reload speed is average too. Only downside is its clip size (7).
As I said before, I've platinum star on it.
