Recent reports from Kotaku suggest that Infinity Ward, Activision, Sledgehammer Games and Raven Software may be collaborating on their new and upcoming first person shooter. Additionally, some mysterious sources revealed to Kotaku a bit of information regarding the storyline of the game. They stated that it will take off from where Modern Warfare 2 had ended. The source also said that the game will be set an in urban environment with "military vehicles, including tanks, rolling through suburban streets." All of that may seem possible, but for now, it's all speculations.
Furthermore, other rumors have been circulating, hinting that Infinity ward is developing a "large scale, destructible environment." As the past rumors have suggested, "MW3" is likely to be released on the 8th of November. More details should be revealed in E3 this year, but nothing is official until Activision confirms. Now, the idea of having a decomposable environment might start some kind of rivalry with the other awarded first person shooter series, Battlefield. BF3 is going to be released near the same space as MW3 is suggested, making a rivalry all the more likely.
I think they'll fail with the destructible environments, it took DICE 3 games to perfect it, and I'm sure Raven and Sledgehammer have no real experience with this type of game.
