So I decided to take it upon myself to do this! Basically, this is a way to force XFire to support Minecraft [not in-game functions, but record how long you've been playing ;p] and a voice chat room for us users!
Firstly, you'll need XFire, if you don't already have it. You can download it You must login or register to view this content.. Don't worry about an account, you can make one during program installation.
Next. we need to support Minecraft, because the minecraft.exe isn't the base of the program, it runs off of java. So, to get XFire to support Minecraft, first and foremost, cut and paste the minecraft.exe into your java folder [Default: C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0_22\bin\ ] {Please note the italicized section may differ, based on the java version you use!}.
Next, right click minecraft.exe and Send To -> Desktop (Create Shortcut) so that you can run it with ease, unless you prefer delving into your java folder every time you want to open minecraft ;p.
Now, on the XFire program, click Tools -> Options -> Games. Let it load, then click the arrow to show "Not Installed" games.
Scroll down until you find "Minecraft". Change it from "Automatically Detect" to "Manual Detect".
Next, click Browse, and choose the javaw.exe file, located in C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0_20\bin\javaw.exe where the italicized may differ. Click apply, and the Game Path box allows you to fill it in. Use C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0_20\bin\Minecraft.exe where, again, the italicized are may differ. Click apply again and viola, you now have Minecraft Support for XFire!
Now, to join the voice chat, please click the "Chat Rooms" button on the left [looks like three speech bubbles]. At the bottom left where you can type a name in, type ngu minecraft chatroom and click join! It will ask you if you want to join the voice chat server: Click yes if you want to, or no if you do not want to. It is also a normal chat. Lastly, click Actions -> Save so the chat room is saved in your Saved Chat Rooms list, so you can easily join again when wanted.
Best of all, its hosted by XFire servers, so even if I am not on, the chat server is. :]
Note: You need to set-up your microphone for XFire in the Tools -> Options menu before you can voice chat!
Now, of course, this is also like MSN when it comes to messaging [just designed for gamers] so we might as well add each other! Feel free to post your XFire names below!
My XFire name is
death2allenemies .
I hope this helped everyone, and I hope to chat with you all, and see you all in-game! :]
