Many Xbox 360 users have become a fan of the exclusive Gears Of War series. A new edition to the saga is now coming via board game, as users will have the ability to play a hands on version of the sought after video game. The game features the ability for 1 to 4 players to join in and take roles of COG soldiers. The task of the board game itself will feature a variety of objectives such as teaming up and fighting against the Locust horde. During this process it is noted that you will revisit some of the greatest Gears 1 and 2 moments. When playing, the board game will task one of seven random constructed missions that you must face in hopes of completion.

The seven included missions deliver a range of objectives, from placing a sonic resonator deep in the Locust-infested earth to escaping the attack of a raging Berserker. Each mission is randomly constructed every time you play, using an ingenious map creation system to ensure that no two games are ever exactly alike.

Moving on from the tactical aspect of the game, Gears Of War: The Board Game will contain 30 plastic figures, 200 cards and a claimed 35 Locust cards. Included will be 17 double sided map tiles, 75 tokens and markers and a mission sheet which players can reference to. As shown below, here are some respected images of what has so far been shown:

All in all, this board game is designed to attract any player to the table, not just those whom have previously played on console. A must have for those who enjoy the series, Gears of War: The Board Game is set for release in Summer 2011.

Will this marketing onset temp you, or will you stick to the good old days of Gears solely on console?

That it definitely does, and when saying this, it might actually be a fun experience. Not having a 360 or Gears Of War, I could still imagine myself giving the board game a go.

I would rather stick to the game itself... Forget the board game.
