This year at E3, Microsoft made many announcements of new games that will further utilize the capabilities of Kinect gaming. The most brief, but most striking announcement, was their upcoming release of Minecraft for Xbox 360.

Minecraft is a game, that by all conventional gaming standards, should have gone nowhere big. But against the odds, Minecraft has exploded into a hugely popular game, with a user base that tops 8 million and a paid user base that tops 2 million.

One of the interesting aspects of the release is the fact that the release of Minecraft on Xbox 360 will be compatible with Kinect. There was no demo footage of Minecraft being played using Kinect. Only a short clip in the background of the Xbox logo being built up. It was also not made clear whether or not this game will solely be supported by Kinect, or if it will also support gameplay using the Xbox controller.

This announcement seems to be just a bit of a teaser for now. It isn't known whether Minecraft on the Xbox will have multiplayer support. There are also questions as to how the constant game updates will be handled. Pricing is another issue that many people are left wondering about. For now it is a waiting game and we will all have to wait for more info.

So what are your opinions? I know we have a large group of Minecraft users here. Are you excited for Minecraft on Xbox? What are your opinions on it's utilization of Kinect? Do you think that Minecraft being on Xbox will improve or worsen the iconic Minecraft experience?
