Within the past few months, numerous corporations seem to have fallen victim to apparent hackers. With many in fear and questioning their own security , Sega officially confirmed a website-database breach and exposure of the “Sega Pass” service. Suggested by Sega themselves was that during this breach period, over 1.3 million accounts were vulnerable to those behind the attack. The pinpointed date of the security breach is placed during the period of June 16, as alleged by the corporate victims.

Upon being granted access to the personal information, Hackers were able to extract names, addresses, dates of birth, and without question, passwords. Though a major problem on its own, Sega ensured consumers that credit card information was not discovered during the security lapse. Due to external payment providers, gamers who made online purchases through the website are fine, and can ultimately consider themselves safe.

Also confirmed by the company is that their web based services will remain offline until the intrusion has been discovered, and a fix implemented. Sega wishes to ensure the at most security, and therefore will continue to strategically remodel their network based systems, in order to avoid a reoccurrence of what has taken place. No time frame has been given to date, however, it is always important to remember quality before quantity.

Definitely agreeing with you. As I stated, there have been so many corporations/gamers recently which have been exposed. Not necessary whatsoever, it is almost a guarantee that many more will also have information stolen(as hackers are not seeming to layoff).

Indeed, its just utterly pointless, yes fair enough anonymous are striking back at the government for sueing their fellow hacker's, but its because of what they are doing, that they are being sued, where as LulzSec, are doing it for the "Lulz".

No, I did not post it in the article, however, LulzSec is not behind it. They even tweeted to Sega....

"@Sega - contact us. We want to help you destroy the hackers that attacked you. We love the Dreamcast, these people are going down."
