Call Of Duty: Black Ops has been declared the best-selling game ever in the UK, beating Modern Warfare 2 - as developer Treyarch has hinted that they may be working on a fourth downloadable map pack for the game.



Ever since it's release, Black Ops has had one outstanding competitor, it's bigger brother from Infinity Ward, Modern Warfare 2. However, according to MCV, the UK's favourite video game is now officially Black Ops, not that this will raise cause for major celebration at Activision, since they are the publisher of both.

3,722,411 copies of Black Ops have now been sold in the UK, compared to 3,702,410 for Modern Warfare 2. And Black Ops isn't just the biggest game in the UK, it was the best-selling entertainment of any kind last year, beating both Avatar on DVD/Blu-ray and Take That's new album. And it's still selling now, in part because of a regular supply of downloadable map packs. Annihilation came out just yesterday, and now Treyarch have hinted there might be another to follow that.

'I can't talk to anything beyond Annihilation, but keep your eyes peeled...' said Treyarch's David Vonderhaar to Digital Spy.

You'll note that, although that’s a pretty heavy hint that more downloadable content is to come, he doesn't actually mention map packs, so could this be the first extra content for a Call Of Duty game that isn't just more maps? (No, probably not is the obvious answer.)

Four map packs will be the most a Call Of Duty game has ever received though, with Modern Warfare 2 getting only two and Treyarch's World At War stopping after three.

To celebrate the release of Annihilation this will be a double XP weekend for Black Ops. It will also feature a supposed 'grudge match' between Jason Terry of the Dallas Mavericks and Rudy Gay of the Memphis Grizzlies.

Annihilation features four new maps called Hanger 18, Drive-In, Silo, Hazard, as well as a new Zombies level called Shangri-La, and is the third map pack for Black Ops, joining First Strike which launched in February, and last month's Escalation map pack.
