This is only in the rumor stages. Nonetheless, there seems to be leaked information pertaining to the PS4. Foxxcon and Pegatron technology, the two manufacturing companies that handle the production of the PS3, have claimed they are also in the process of producing parts for the PS4.

According to these two Japanese manufacturers, the PS4 is estimated to be released in 2012. I would say it is safe to assume it would release nearer to the end of the year in order to get a boost in sales for the holidays. These companies also report that Sony plans on shipping 20 million consoles around the world, before the end of 2012.

What is even more interesting is the fact that both sources have stated they are producing hardware which will emulate the features from Microsoft's Kinect peripheral. If these claims are true then it will be interesting to see how Sony will be incorporating it's move controllers with the movement recognition features.

Just as any other claim, these have very little information confirming they are true, but it will be interesting to find out how much truth they hold. It would not be very surprising if the PS4 is to come in 2012, as Sony seems to be putting this next generation console on the fast track after the Jailbreak phenomenon and the infamous hacking of the Playstation Network.

So do you think that the Playstation 4 will be coming in 2012? Do you think that if it does, will it be likely it will include the body control features that emulate Kinect? Do you think the market is ready for the PS4 or should Sony concentrate on the PS3 for a bit longer?

Don't they wait ten years between each console?

They will lose money no ones going to go out and waste like 300+ on a console that isn't too much different than theirs.

its 6 years per console, yes, but there are many different things that exempt PS3 from this pattern, such as the addition of move / kinect, and the fact that many games don't even use 100% of the systems potential ( PS3 ).

It would make sense, but it will be another year or two before I buy it after it's released. It will cost A LOT.

From what I've heard, not many games are even utilizing 100% of the PS3's hardware capability. It's around 75%. Sony needs to chill out and focus on the console they have out right now.

The tech is getting old already.. Thats why most of the games from now on, have to be down-scaled from pc to consoles. For example look how great BF3 will look on pc... Not just that, but fps cant have 1080p and 60/fps at the same time... And pixels have to be optimized compared to PC and so on. The tech is simple getting old, we need more ram, new graphic cards, GPU & CPU.

So yes, it is ready

Developers are just finding ways to make it look "better" than the past sequel, better color, optimization for space etc... But the truth is they can't go father in terms of what we call better graphics (real graphics improvements) all the things i mentioned above^

Consoles tech is already like 15 months old already. I hope PS4 come with a lot of RAM and features... Because if sony do the samething they did with PS3 (lack of features) ill just go with xbox this time... For example from day 1 they have youtube, facebook, and a lot of other usefull apps... cross game chat, in-game music, in-game browser (just need ram) and more in-game features etc...

it wont come out in 2012, if it miraculously does....itll fail at first, itll be rushed like the 360 was, and be prone to hacking, and modding from the start...game developers need time to fully utilize the consoles power first, only killzone 3 does that...after 5 years....sony does NOT need a new console at all right now. regardless if the new xbox and wii system come out next year..theyll sell well anyway..so sony does not need to jump into that pool...wait till the kids get out...then its ADULT SWIM!!! anyway..ps3 game devs havent even started receiving ps4 dev kits, so in no way is this rumor true...considering it takes roughly 1 1/2-2 years to make a game(minus building a new graphics engine and model for the new system)...so..when ps4 dev kits get to the developers...add 2 years..and youll get when the ps4 is gonna be released. besides, the company is making parts, doesnt mean they are going into production, they could still be in testing phase...the parts gotta be made by someone...and you cant test something thats not in front of you......dont believe everything you read...besides...this is more of a conspiracy theory than a rumor..

---------- Post added at 03:27 AM ---------- Previous post was at 03:22 AM ----------

uhhh, no. only one game has utilized the full potential of the ps3...killzone 3...no other game has used all of the ps3s graphics(which mean, they have room to use better graphics and programming), they sure as hell havent used the dolby 5.1 to the max yet..at least i havent been dazzled by the sound as of yet. and...the processing power...LOL..no game even uses 75% of the ps3s cell processing...cept 1. they have a ton of life left on this console. think differently?...well, everyone is a noob from time to time.. =D
