From what I've heard, not many games are even utilizing 100% of the PS3's hardware capability. It's around 75%. Sony needs to chill out and focus on the console they have out right now.
The tech is getting old already.. Thats why most of the games from now on, have to be down-scaled from pc to consoles. For example look how great BF3 will look on pc... Not just that, but fps cant have 1080p and 60/fps at the same time... And pixels have to be optimized compared to PC and so on. The tech is simple getting old, we need more ram, new graphic cards, GPU & CPU.
So yes, it is ready
Developers are just finding ways to make it look "better" than the past sequel, better color, optimization for space etc... But the truth is they can't go father in terms of what we call better graphics (real graphics improvements) all the things i mentioned above^
Consoles tech is already like 15 months old already. I hope PS4 come with a lot of RAM and features... Because if sony do the samething they did with PS3 (lack of features) ill just go with xbox this time... For example from day 1 they have youtube, facebook, and a lot of other usefull apps... cross game chat, in-game music, in-game browser (just need ram) and more in-game features etc...
