Many people prefer Xbox over PS3 simply because it is layed out better and is more pleasing to the eye. In an attempt to counteract this, Sony seems to be in the testing stages of a new layout for their PSN Store.
You must login or register to view this content. reports to have received information from several testers that Sony is quietly testing the layout. Why it is being kept so under wraps is yet to be known.
However, what is known, is that the PSN store will be moving further from its current, text based, visual interface and will be steering towards an image based one. This is said to be much like the current look and style of the Xbox interface. One of the testers commented:

What total BS. I hate the Xbox store. You can't go to anything without it trying to sell you the game. Want a picture, a theme, a piece of DLC, just casually browsing what a game has to offer, makes no difference, it lists the game. It's too big, it's clunky, I wish it were more like the PS Store. I'm not looking forward to this change if doing something 360ish is in mind.

I totally agree, i HATE the Xbox layout, its so messy its unreal, i really like the design of the Ps3, sure it could be made better but i really hope they don't imitate the 360's store. i find the PSN store easy to navigate and find things, i dont get bombarded with ad's and info on games i couldn't give a toss about. i like how it looks and sure its a bit clunky in places but it does the job and looks good enough to me. i Hate the Xbox dashboard, i wish they kept the old one as it was much nicer, they tried to hard to sell you every bit of crap they have on XBL, Ps3 avoids this and only shows you featured stuff that is actually worth buying. What i find even more annoying on XBL is the fact that your paying £40 a year to have ad's plastered on your screen every 3 seconds which annoy the shit outa me whereas Ps3 avoids all of that on the XMB which is nice, the only way to see new things is to go to "whats new" which is much easier and nicer on the eye.
I dont think they should change the XMB at all, its easy to use and looks good, plus if you hate the look of it just download a new theme....simple
