With the excitement of the upcoming Playstation Vita, many anticipated gamers are clamoring for the new handheld device. Though once rumored to be releasing at the end of 2011, Kaz Hirai, Sony’s executive deputy President, has dismissed all rumors. Harai has informed reporters that the Vita will not be ready to debut in Europe and North America this year, and instead, Japan will be the only location which will see its arrival during 2011. Japan’s release is planned to take place early December for the Playstation Vita.
Though this comes as a shocking decision to many, Harai ensures that the handheld will not be a disappointment for many eager enthusiasts. During the press release, Harai defended the quality of the upcoming product and reflected on the systems price range.

We packed so much into the device and made it very affordable. There is no need to lower the price just because somebody else that happens to be in the video game business decided that they were going to lower their price.
A rather large decision on Sony’s part, will this move prove costly for the gaming giants? Not releasing in Europe or North America before Christmas, Sony is sure to lose out on profit that could potentially be vital.

Not much about the actual gaming experience is known about it. Mostly information on specs and gameplay. I believe cross-chat to be rumored and very likely, but not yet confirmed.
