As you all know, the two biggest names in FPS franchises are both releasing a brand new, revolutionary game to the world in the next upcoming months. Battlefield hits the shelves on October 25th, while November 8th for Call of Duty. They will both be available for $60 on console. These games will ultimately compete for total sales, because more total sales means more moooolah baby. Isn't that the point in selling a product? There are many things that go into how a game sells. Now these aren't any ground rules, but the first factor is of course the game. If the game is bad, it gets taken back to the store. If the game is good, then it receives media coverage, experts recommend it, friends push friends to get it. That brings us to factor number 2. People buy games to play with their friends, whether it be on splitscreen or with your online buddies. The third factor is brand cliche. Think about it in car terms, why do so many people buy Hondas? Well, because Honda has proven itself for decades to be one of the most reliable and cost efficient car brands in the world. Would you take a gamble on a game from a new developer, or buy one from one you've enjoyed in the past?

Gotta say, the battlefield series is amazing but from playing both I love call of duty more. Cod 1-5 were amazing, mw2 was great but frustrating. BO is utter shite. Battlfield got no frustration. I'll be getting both bf3 and mw3. but I think I will play mw3 more. mainly for friends but both series's own. Thanks for this useful post

i think they are equally as good,. but battlefield seems fressher

Im not into FPS anymore but i will say that Call of Duty will still sell more because EVERYONE wants to play it. I don't why some of my friends are like "F*** CoD, im not play this s*** anymore" but they still do and they eventually get the next CoD. I don't why they still play it.
In my opinion, CoD is boring and repetitive and I think it should die.

Well Im buying MW3 first but Im getting BF3 on Christmas so everything will be even for me.

You can't compare this 2 games. The same genre, but still very different. Battelfield wants to be more realistic. Okay well the graphics are better than the graffics in MW3 (if you compare trailers, etc.), but my opinion about this topic is:

I don't care about how some trees in a map are looking. I prefer the gameplay of COD and will buy MW3. If it's like MW2 it will be more than great!
