A few weeks back I posted a story about rumors of a price drop for PS3 systems that would come in September. The drop was rumored to be coming at a cool $100 off the current list price. With such a large price cut it would be easy for Sony to gain it's edge back after the PSN hacking incident.
Well, at Sony's Gamescom press conference this year they confirmed the rumor. There will be a price drop coming for PS3 Systems in the US, Europe and Japan. The price will not be dropping by as much as we all had hoped though. The PS3 system will now be sold on tha market at a middle ground of $50 off the current list price.
While it hasn't been officially stated yet, it is assumed at this point that this new price will be for the 160 GB version of the system.
So what is your opinion? Are you happy to see the price drop? Will the drop make it any more likely for you to purchase a PS3, whether you currently own one or not? Do you think that this price drop will help give Sony an edge in the market?
