Ever since the Xbox 360 introduced cross-game chat to its Xbox Live users, enabling them to party up with and chat with players in other games, PlayStation 3 fans have wondered when Sony would implement such a feature on the PSN. As it turns out, the reason we've been waiting so long for this feature, is because the PS3 simply cannot do it. There are memory restrictions in place that would make it impossible Shuhei Yoshida said.

A RAM usage feature of the console prevents a cross-game chat feature, Yoshida You must login or register to view this content..

Quote: "Once a game gets RAM we never give it back," he said. "It's not possible to retrofit something like that after the fact...The game has to use its own memory to do in-game voice chat. There's always voice chat in the game. But it's part of a game feature. It's not part of an OS feature. That's the reason in terms of the ability to have voice chat across different games."

So what do you have to say about this? Leave some feedback and your opinion's in a post below! Hopefully they will bring this feature into the Ps4 though.

The world is becoming convenient day by day and that's why people demand that. They want everything all together in one place. No, I don't want to wait till I get home to use my desktop computer in order to finish my work, I rather have a laptop around me.

Why wouldn't you want to be able to talk to your friends when they're playing different games? The whole point of multiplayer gaming is socializing and competing.

And why would you want to have to hold a phone with your head against your shoulder while playing a video game or pay for phone fees when chatting on the Xbox is free/cheaper and not restricted to just one or two people?

I think you just want to try to downplay the fact that the Xbox has something that the PS3 doesn't. :dumb:

inb4 Xbox 360 fanboy, I have a PS3. Awesome face

No, but adding more RAM to the slim and usingit for cross game chat would be unfair on the people with classic PS3's. Or have we forgot how much rage was caused when PSN went down, would you want that shitstorm again. I think not.

u think not? i really dont care if it goes down again, i dont play that much and it wouldnt be unfair, it would increase sonys profits because the people that really want cross game chat would buy the new system. thats like saying its unfair to pay for playstation plus.

Did I say it would go down? No, i didn't. So adding more RAM to a current system instead of developing a next-gen system makes sense. PS+ is not unfair because there paying monthly for free games and extra betas and demos.

if they made a system capable of cross game chat you would be paying for that sytem, so paying for cross game chat, like when you pay for ps+ you get all those things and you said i wouldnt like if psn went down, i was just sayin i wouldnt care if it did.

Why not just add XGC to the 'PS4' or whatever it's gonna be. PS+ is a service just like NGU premium, It's not needed but nice to have.
