(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); The Call of Duty XP event is officially starting next weekend and with that many lucky players will get the chance to gain some hands on time with Activision's upcoming first person shooter, Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3.

Despite the event not yet officially kicking off which by the way is being opened by Dropkick Murphys, it has not stopped people gaining access to the game pods and film footage. According to the Youtube user who must be noted has made an account specifically to upload this footage, they had to break into the event itself and login.

It was really impossible to get here (to COD XP area) at night, 'cause there are a lot of guards because there are a lot of XBOXes, and by the end of this video we were spotted, and hardly ran away.
Whether or not the story is to be considered legitimate, the fact of the matter is map names and some other interesting details have now been leaked. In my opinion this is disrespectful to Infinity Ward and their co-developers. Leaking games before their official release is always damaging not to mention illegal, but this is taking it to a new level.

This is surprisingly one of the only times Activision and their developers have allowed people to see multiplayer content before release, as all testing and preparation is done through an interior beta. So given the fact that they have openly spent millions in tournaments, prizes and not to mention a life sized recreation of the multiplayer map Scrapyard it seems a low move to say the least.

It should be noted that this is game built for the event specifically and may not represent the full game when it is released in November. You can see this in the video in the bottom left with the notice 'Built for XP tournament'.
Nonetheless news is news and it would be ignorant not to look into the footage and see what knowledge can be gained.

First and foremost here is the video which is has caused this and for you to decide for yourselves how much should be taken seriously.

First thing which should be stated is the names of the maps. In total there are 13 maps which may or not be the full list. However it should be noted that roughly 13/14 maps is usually the norm with regards to online multiplayer and Call of Duty.

Some places such as Paris are not a major surprise as some of them have been seen in the trailer released earlier this year. Despite some other maps being vague and not clear on actual locations others are a welcoming change. Mogadishu, the Somalian capital is one of those and really does help illustrate that the conflict in this game will be on a global scale. This had been expected with the 'WW3' logo being brieftly displayed in the trailer, however it is refreshing to see some new and arguably unexpected locations.

The full list is as follows:

Carbon
Coast
Dome
Exchange
Hardhat
Interchange
Lambeth
Meteora
Mogadishu
Paris
Plaza
Radar
Seatown

One of the details seen is that there is a new gametype coming out with Modern Warfare 3 called 'Bomb'. This could be anything but shouldn't in anyway be ignored as this could be anything from a collective to individual gametime. Although it may be something just to help the XP Tournament run more smoothly it may be an indication that we are bound to get at least one new game type at release.
Robert Bowling has stated that the game types are similar to Black Ops in the fact that they are open to negotiation with the community in terms of taking out the old and bringing in the new so long as the vast majority are on board. Whether this means 'Bomb' may be removed later remains to be seen.

The other big indication is the number of max players, 32. Although early days this could mean a complete do over with regards to how we play custom games. It should be noted however that this could mean several things. At the COD XP Event 'IWNET' is running the show with regards to hosting the LAN games and this could mean that 32 is possible, but will not feature in the retail release.

Despite this the max player number can only be seen in what is believed to be a private match. This is indicated by the players ability to choose the map, and if remains in the game could spell a whole new level in custom games and the possible introduction of other games. The idea of 16 v 16 dodgeball games is mouth watering to say the least.

Whether we will see 16 v 16 games online in what would have to be a ground war equivalent gametype, although doubtful remains to be seen.

First of all, Congrats Curt! Happy

Second, thanks for this.

Third, I may be the only one who feels this way, but this time around I would like a surprise. For at least the past four COD's, details have been leaked. I am growing a bit tired of being shown things before the game actually comes out, as it spoils the element of surprise and that feeling you get from a fresh start. So, I think I will refrain from this sort of stuff. :p

Good find though. :y:

I donĀ“t think so, but Activision could say in the CoD XP that in MW3 it would be dedicated servers
