A debate that is starting to heat up is around which console version of Battlefield 3 is superior on. Its a given that the PC version beats them all, but this is not as clear around the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions

The first thing LoT noticed is that the PS3 version has bloom effect, while the Xbox seems to lack it. Another difference is that the Xbox 360 version seems to have more jaggies in the textures, while the PS3 version seems to be more smoother.

Again in this comparison shot the PS3 version seems to have less jaggies overall compared to the Xbox 360 version. Another thing to note is that the PS3 version seems to be using sharper hi-res textures.

This one was rather disappointing as the Xbox 360’s gun is using blatantly lower res textures, while the PS3 version has higher-res textures on the gun. Also, noticed the jaggies on the Xbox 360 version in the background.

It appears that the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions are very close. However, there are some notable differences in the beta. The PS3 version seems to suffer from more screen tearing, but again seems to be isolated to the top of the screen. The PS3 version does seem to utilize more effects such as bloom as well as employ higher res-textures over the Xbox 360 version.

Since this is an early beta, its difficult to tell if some of these things will be ironed out by the final build of the game.

They're very similar, PS3 has better textures whilst IMO Xbox has better frame rate & lighting(personally, brighter does not equal better).

So even. IMO.

I have both, and it would appear as though they have very similar frame rates. But hey, that's just my opinion.

I don't quite understand what you mean about the Xbox, could you elaborate further? .... the Xbox 360 uses RAM (512mb), a graphics card (ATI Xenos), and data on DVDs in the same manner the PS3 uses RAM (256mb), a graphics card (Nvidia with 256mb dedicated), and data on Blu-Rays. The main difference between the two is the fact that Blu-Ray can hold more data, which results in two discs for the Xbox version, and the fact that the PS3 has dedicated RAM for it's graphics card. However, it's mostly the PS3's Cell processor combined with the RAM that can provide better graphics in some cases.

On topic: I played the Beta and could see some differences in lighting and textures; but, it didn't really look so much better.

Thanks,

Thanks,
see i heard that the xbox only relies on its RAM for frame rate, while the ps3 uses all the things you listed above and thats the reason it has more FPS on most games,i apologies if this is untrue because i did not hear it off sony i heard it off my friend who is a pretty hardware fanatic

Well 1 FPS higher is practically the same so the only difference is a few higher res textures on PS3 and a bloom effect. Everyone appreciates higher textures but personally, I don't care for bloom at all. They're almost the same but we can all agree PC destroys both.

BF3 for PS3 and Xbox360 will have same exact 30fps performance. No less or no better. The real way to compare BF3 on consoles is too take a TRUE 720p video of the same area. Both will most likely look the same.

PS3 has darker shade. - That's all i know.
