Battlefield 3 Confirmed Information

Well after playing and reviewing the Battlefield 3 Beta, I thought I'd carry on the subject whilst the hype for Battlefield 3 is at its peak.

There has been several confirmed information after the release of Battlefield 3 Beta, and I feel it would be nice for people to know some of the changes DICE are going to be making for the genuine release of Battlefield 3.

Online pass in Battlefield 3
That's right. Similar to the previous title of Battlefield, where users who bought a brand-new version had VIP access to all maps, second-hand buyers were able to purchase the VIP pass online. They've chosen to continue the tradition by allowing users that have purchased a second-hand copy of the game purchase an online pass.

Bullet Speed and why HDD is preferred.
Alan Kertz, who's the Battlefield 3 core gameplay designer, has released some information in responses to fans tweets. In one response he has confirmed that the system specs will be that of the same as the beta.

In another tweet Alan was asked about the bullet travel speed in Battlefield 3. "I saw a video on YT with a 961m HS and the bullet was ~0.34 s faster than it should," he then responded to this tweet with "Indeed they will be slower at mid ranges and faster at long compared to IRL due to scaling the speeds. They are relative to IRL."

There was also another reveal, releasing information that Gunners get their own loadouts in Battlefield 3. Which means that both pilot and gunners get their own loadouts. This is making Battlefield 3 out to be an interesting game, and I'm sure it will be packed with several surprises upon release.

Alan responded to a fan asking whether bullets were range based or not. In his response he said that the splash damage is solely based on distance.

"He revealed that the optical discs are too slow to take advantage of the streaming tech. For PS3 this holds true because the Blu Ray runs at 2x speed, while the 360 DVD is slightly faster. This is the main reason why they prefer HDDs"

More weapons, biggest maps yet, and changes to unlocks.
If you were disappointed by the selection of weapons in Battlefield 3 beta, you will be pleased to know that "there are more in the full version," announced by Kertz. This should be amazing news to those who were expecting more guns from the beta, or would of preferred several more weapons.

After several weeks of people enjoying the open release of the Battlefield 3 beta, people have probably grown tiresome of the map Operation Métro. Some people were disappointed of the map, and didn't consider it a map fit for the Battlefield series due to it being considerably small and too rectilinear. "keep in mind that Operation Métro is [DICE's] smallest and tightest map." said Alan Kertz.

He was asked by another fan if Battlefield 3 maps were going to be considerably bigger than Bad Company 2's maps. Kertz simply replied with a "Yes."

One issue that I referred to in my previous article reviewing Battlefield 3, was the balance of the game. It did seem an issue that the game had its faults with the unlocks and was fairly unbalanced. One fan asked a question regarding the balance of the jet unlocks, and if there is to be any changes in the release of Battlefield 3. Kertz replied "many unlocks will or have been balanced and we will continue to monitor the live game."

Customisation of appearance.
I came across a screenshot that was taken from the IGN BF3 Multiplayer maps sneak preview. When they were changing their loadout, it shows us something that's completely new to the Battlefield series, an 'Appearance' option, some speculate that this is for the camo unlocks you may unlock online, or maybe it's to change your characters appearance? who knows, but I hope DICE will be able to shed some light on the subject.

Issues to be addressed prior to retail
DICE have released some information on their blog regarding the Top 10 beta issue and how they will be addressed.

One of the biggest issues in the Battlefield 3 Beta was the unreliability of your 'squad'. The issue was that parts of your squad could end up on opposite teams, which defeated the whole purpose of having a squad. DICE have said that squad will have improved functionality in the retail game. Joining a game and continuing through future matches together will not be an issue in the retail game.

Problems which have been fixed for the retail game; falling into the map, killcam zooming out too far, not being able to sprint and screen flickering after respawn.

Another big issue in the beta was that downed bodies would appear to be dead, but they weren't. This is caused by a combination of incidents in a confined area. DICE are going to be trying their hardest to fix this issue before the release of the retail game.

Rely on camping? too bad.
Camping - a word that is often used in a negative way in multiple FPS games has now become DICE's target. Due to the new Frostbite 2 engine being used in Battlefield 3, it brings the ability to completely destroy the environment you're playing in. This will bring one of the most realistic environmental demolitions to date in the competitive FPS scene. With this, people will no longer be able to 'camp' in buildings when every brick has been completely obliterated.

This is probably a little late considering the Battlefield 3 release is tomorrow, but it may help a few members consider purchasing the game with the information. :y:
