EA's latest press release featured new information concerning Battlefield 3's pre-order count.
Analysts predict 9 - 11 million copies of BF3 will be sold. Here's a piece from the origin press release:

I award dice on this one, because they are getting near to the sales of where COD is at, I feel as if COD has now lost a greater popularity rating with the releases of MW3 and BF3.

people only really hopped on the bf3 band wagon because black ops was a garbage game. the real winner will be known in 6 months maybe. by then we will see which game had the longer life span

I think everyone (including COD players) are amazed by the Frostbite 2 engine and the immersive experience BF3 offers. It brings FPS games onto a whole new level, and the competitors would have to step there game up sooner or later.

I have never played any battlefield games before, maybe a little bit of bad company 2 but that's it and i have to say i cant wait! for bf3 i am even more excited than i am for mw3. I just love it Awesome face

Still if all of those players buy the game and assuming more will who haven't pre-ordered it thats like 1/5 of the money Black Ops made in the first 24hours.
(Assuming the price most people will pay for the game is 50$)

Noone can truely say there's competition with COD vs BF. That's like saying Windows has a chance with Apple. Apple has income and assets worth more than Windows and HP combined. That's not to say we don't need the opponent. They are the reason why the successors are successors.
