Since you are now reading this paragraph you should have seen the spoiler in the thread title, if not then either turn back now or continue to read.
As you will remember Modern Warfare 2 was hugely hit by the media for its "No Russian" Mission which allowed the player to mow down innocent civilians with an LMG. Now to some gamers this might have been a fun mission but it caused a lot of controversy in the news as terrorist attacks ruined the lives of many innocent people and in the London bombings occurring, Mw2 giving gamer's the option to play as a terrorist was hugely frowned upon.
Activision claimed that it was not meant to reflect real life attacks and to hurt those who were affected, but it was to show within the story the type of powerful character Makarov is.
So how do you fight the controversy?
Of course.... With another scene of similar horror. This time it is not a playable scene but is viewed from a video camera.
Spoiler Alert
The video is now quickly being taken down on off the internet

Activision are kind enough to allow you to skip this part if you feel that you do not want to watch it but it is very clear that it will be brought up in the media. You may also remember in the news before that Modern Warfare 2 was trying to be banned in the UK as it involved terrorists which reflected the London bombings.
How do you feel about scenes like this?
Is it just part of the story or do you feel that it doesn't need to be included?
I myself have never lost anyone close by terrorist attacks so I am not really fussed that they are in the game but I can easily see why the controversy is started. However most of the time as soon as the media get their hands on a bit of dirt they will do anything to make it bigger then it actually is.
It is an 18 rated game and there are worst graphical content out there with lower age ratings. If parents do not like their children seeing these scenes then its simple:
"Do not buy your kids these games"
Its an 18 and is meant for mature gamers only so parents who are stupid enough to buy this game for their kids will have to face the fact that its their fault for exposing their children to it.
So what do you feel on scenes like this and how they impact the media?
its a 17 game not 18.
M for Mature is for 17+ not like PEGI's 18+.
but i suppose it's just part of the story, its what helps to give it emotion and helps to fuel the gamer to want to stop Makarov.

It's stupid people get so worked up over it. It's a game, it's not real. It's also Rated M and has an age restriction to buy it. Anyone can go on the internet and see REAL people dying.
I'm tired of the media acting as if video games are not a viable medium for a good story, and I'm also tired of the assumption that video games are in no way supposed to be a form of art.
If you want to get all pissy about video games, be consistent, hate violent cinema as well.
