An inside report claims the announcement of the next-gen Xbox (more popularly known as Xbox 720) will be veiled by Microsoft as early as CES 2012?
This news came from a French-based site in which its source came from “very close” individuals who are linked with the Redmonian company. It's expected partial announcement will be on the upcoming Consumer Electronic show happening on January 10-12, also, Xboxygen did confirm the new xbox will use a hexa-core type of CPU with 2GB DDR3 Memory and a prototype dual-GPU from AMD. An interesting note is that it is said that the company have been working on this project since 2005 since the release of the Xbox 360, that's a whopping 6 years! This news is connected with last week’s report that “Loop” division will handle Xbox 720’s software parts while a division called “Infinity” will be tasked for its hardware.

It has also been said though that this console will not make it's debut until 2015, which will make it 10 years after the Xbox 360's release, not a massive surprise because 10 years is around the right gap between different consoles for me, seeing as they've had 10 years to work on it, let's hope it is a drastic change from the 360 and that we get something really nextgen and something un-expected! Another story that comes from this is whether Sony are going to be releasing something, we heard a couple of months back that they are definitely working on a home console that will also be released in 2015, but again we will just have to wait and see!

Thanks for reading,

Looks sweet. Perhaps we'll see a prototype before 2012?

hopefully, although it probably won't be anything like the real thing seeing as it will be another 3 years until release :\

2GB is too low, 4GB should be the minimum. 6 cores seem too low as well unless they're at 5.0Ghz each.

Yeah, the lifespan on the ps3 and Xbox will be going for a while, they haven't really got any need to bring out a new console anytime soon, no new features worth a totally new console yet Smile

Thanks for the info bro :y:

A new PS Console has been released every six years.
And Xbox was released in 01, and 360 in 05. Can't really get the average lifespan of an xbox with only two releases -.-

3 Years seems far too long to wait, especially since by then the technology will have advanced far more again, so they will just announce the specs next year only for them to be severely outdated by the time of release.

As much as I would like for those to be minimum specs as well, its just simply not that easy. Maybe even impossible.
Having 6 cores all clocked at 5Ghz each would overheat the system like a bitch. Like I said, it "may" be possible,
and as much as I would like to see it as well, don't expect them to accomplish anything near close to this without
compromising the system in another aspect.

Maybe Microsoft will hand the Hardware design to a company who knows how to build a console that doesn't commit suicide? Awesome face

Also going from a Tri-core to a Hexa-core isn't much of a transformation... where-as the PS3 now has 7 Cores (technically Eight) then I guess we'll see the PS4 boasting a Tetradecahedro-core with Quad-GPU's? :S

still not as powerful as an 8-Core ps3
