Modern Warfare 3 -Hit $1 billion

Well you may remember me posting a thread about how modern warfare 3 made a total of $775 million in just 5 days, and it has now finally been announced by Activision that the game reached $1 billion in an amazing 16 days, beating off James Camerons huge "Avatar" by just one day, which is still a huge achievement.
16 days to reach $1 billion has now made Modern Warfare 3 the fastest selling entertainment product in history.
Black ops took 2 months to hit what Modern Warfare 3 hit in just over two weeks.
Fighting off Harry Potter and Avatar to become the biggest entertainment launch is a great achievement and was highly predictable.
It is interesting to see how huge the gaming industry is. Compared to the film industry which saw a 4% decrease in sales the gaming industry still manages to boast these impressive stats even in some of these hard economic times, an shows just how huge the market is and the call of duty fan base.
No doubt there will likely be another game in the franchise lined up for next year, but do you think it will receive as much hype and as huge launch sales as Modern Warfare 3?
The Call of duty community doesn't seem to be shrinking anytime soon, so can only be predicted to rise.
If there's one thing you have to admire its that Activision has done everything right, and has done year after year to achieve record number of sales with each new release. This year even with battlefield 3 as a tough competitor it had no chance in even dreaming that it could beat the most anticipated game of all time.
