Microsoft has announced that Kinect will be coming to Windows on February 1.

Even though you will be playing games on it, there's apparently more to it than just waving your arms around to play Microsoft Fight. According to Kotaku there are a number of office and communications uses for it as well, there are some companies that are working on stuff for Windows Kinect such as Boeing, Mattel and Toyota.

The image above is the box art for Kinect for Windows. However what you won't see on the box art is the price, and according to Amazon the starting price is $250! Despite it looking exactly the same as for Xbox 360, it is $100 more for Windows, and the same device you buy for Xbox 360 works fine on any Windows PC.

It's not the same thing you use on an xBox. The xBox version was toned down a bit to reduce power usage, RAM, and processing limitations.

Hack the kinect to work with PC? Oh wait it already was.
