My minecraft username is MC_josh and i like to explore mods.
I am now going to tell you some great places to find mods.

Minecraftdl.com- This site is quite a new one and is very basic. It chooses cool texture packs that you wouldn't find very often.

Minecraftforum.net- This is site is the one i go most often. I love the mods and its a great place where great modders put their amazing work. You can also check out the skins section or texture packs. This site also advertises servers. You can request skins and hopefully somebody would make it for you.

Planetminecraft.com- This site is has a unique way of showing its contents. It is a place filled with competitions on making skins and blogs and also mod suggestions. You can find here the ID's of all the blocks (Don't know about items) for SPC. (Single player commands)

Now... back to the main topic of this post.
I am going to list great mods that i love to use and provide a bit of information.

Mafiamans mod: This guy has two mods. But i am talking about his weapons mod. I pretty sure he isn't going to update it to add more weapons but he has two amazing weapons. The arrow minigun and the Coal bow. The arrow minigun shoots 5 arrows every half second (i believe) Which can kill your enimies in a great fashion. The coal bow uses coal arrows. This will fire out arrows on fire. Making contact with the mob will light them on fire.

Paintball mod v3.2: Recently this mod has been updated. The new features of this mod is a launcher. The launcher shoots out grenades which is pretty cool. The current features are: Pistol (Red or blue) shotgun ( R or B ) sniper (you get the point) Rifle, Launcher, Grenades, Claymores, Pressure plate (i don't know what this is for) and Auto base. The auto base when right clicked (or left) it will create a small base. The chest will include the required armor. (RED or BLUE depending on the base color). Also you will need pellets to shoot your guns (except launcher, It must be the same color as your gun)


Rei's Minimap: This is a great add-on. You will be able to use a minimap. Pressing x on your keyboard will allow you to open a much larger scale of the map. Red dots are hostiles and white ones are like sheep, Cows, pigs. You can also change the map features by pressing M. When underground i definately think you should switch the map type to underground. This way locating Abandoned mineshafts and diamond makes it a bit easier.

Explosives+ 2.0: This adds bombs that are like from call of duty. Features: Nova bomb- This will make your MC lag. But the after effects make a big hole and makes some blocks the were affected fall from the sky. Air strike- This is what an airstrike is. BUT this will affect a HUGE area and drop about 16 nukes to the ground. I reccomend running about 300 blocks away then launching the airstrike. C4- This is a great way to brake in buildings in style. You have a detonator and i suggest going about 20 blocks away to detonate it without death.
And the mother of all bombs, BIOME BUSTER- This bomb will destroy quite a huge area like 50x50 square and will rip straight to bedrock. Laser- This will launch some sort of laser on the block you right click on. (HOLD RIGHT CLICK) it will look like a thunderstrike.

Animal bikes 1.9: Ever felt like riding on an enderdragon, creeper, squid, and NOTCH HIMSELF? well not to worry. this mod allows you to ride on most of the creatures in minecraft with special abilities! Chicken- Allows you to glide slowly
Pony- Nyan cat PONY STYLE.
Squid- Ride slightly above water in speed
Enderdragon- DOMINATE THE SKIES
Reindeer- Rudolf the reindeer
Notch- Gives you cookies if you press space!

I have many more great mods but i have to go soon so i will give you one more mod. (I will update the thread)

Thors hammer (Search Mjolnir hammer on google to find it) - Ever felt like casting thunder whenever you liked? Well then. Become thor and wield this awesome power. (Warning, This is extremely dangerous and can cause total destruction when you get out of control) Throw this hammer and lightning shall strike wherever it lands!
