First off, if you don't have Dead Island I suggest you to leave now, cause there may be some spoilers.

I haven't played this game since Autumn, due to reasons that I'm going to state later. However I just started to play the game again with new character.

So, yeah, if you got this game about the time it was released (before the first patch that fixed online & the latter patch that patched the duplication glitch), you probably remember how awesome the duplication glitch was.

Anyways this thread is about personal disappointments, but it's also about the awesomeness of the game specifically when the duplication glitch was NOT patched.

Duplication glitch:
I think you all know what I mean with this, you know, the glitch that allowed you to duplicate your weapons and then sell them=infinite money. You might first think that it was a bad thing, but no. Think about it, it made the game fun, you didn't have to worry about the money at all, you could buy all the mods and weapons that you wanted, sure it made the game easier, but you still will die.

I remember when I first played the game (before I knew about the glitch). I was like: "This game is effing cool, but it sucks that you can't buy a shit, because you are getting very little money throughout the game." Obviously later I discovered that you will get more money later, but still the weapon mods costed shitload of money and you just simply couldn't afford them. You had to keep your shitty weapon or if you managed to mod it, you obviously didn't wanted to lose it, so you kept repairing it but repairing was FÚCKING expensive.

Then I came to NGU, searched General Gaming section if someone was talking about Dead Island and noticed someone's (can't remember whose) thread about duplication glitch.
I was so happy, cause I had stopped playing the game earlier, due to lack of money in the game. I invited some friends, (will talk about them later) and we started to play the game like never before (even tho the online was glitchy at the time, so it kept disconnecting someone all the time).

2 weeks later I had played the game for 40hours and almost completed it (waited for the patch cause the one trophy was glitched, so I didn't went to prison and I helped some friends instead).

So I definitely think that the glitch made the game A LOT funnier and just kept me wanting to play it. I completed ALL the quests, main- and side quests, in just 2 weeks. Good 'ol times.

The patch
No, I'm not talking about the patch that fixed the duplication glitch, I'm talking about the patch that fixed online. This is just my perspective of the patch.

Yes, it was a good patch. It fixed the online, we could finally play without keep disconnecting all the time. But guess what? I'd rather play in a glitchy online than like what it is now. Reason is that it fixed the trophy glitch, where you couldn't get one trophy (visit all locations or some shit). There's 72 locations, and you could only get 71, so the patch just added one, so we could get the trophy. It's a good thing, but the bad thing is that my character, Logan, was somehow glitched when I loaded the patch. My character got demoted from level 50 to level 28, you probably guess that I was FÙCKING PISSED. But wait it's going to be worse. But first things first, I just went to prison and completed the game. Yes I'd have liked to be a level 50 character before I go there, because you get the best weapons (such as best guns and catanas) there and I could have used them later. But as you know the weapons are same level as your character, so I was like level 37, and I got level 37 weapons and not level 50. Then I noticed that I had lost ALL of my weapon mods too. So I just rage quitted the game for awhile.

As I came back I noticed that duplication glitch had been patched. That's when I quitted the game and haven't played it until today.

I have no problem with the online patch cause I was thinking that we would all take better characters and start a whole new game with better one's (we were using Logan and Sam B ).

This brings me to a new subject, my friends.

Trophy/ Achievement whores
You probably already guessed that the friends that I were playing with are trophy whores (except one guy who only played like 2 hours per day and haven't been online for a month now). Now don't get this wrong, I do like to get trophies, in fact I have 20 platinums and over 1200 trophies, but I'm not a trophy whore, I just like to get 100%/Platinum on all games that I can get it. I don't just buy games to get trophies.

Anyways when we had all completed the game, that was after my character was fúcked up and the duplicate glitch had been patched, we all agreed that we'd pick up a new character and start playing online and the story again. Now you may wonder why I'd still play it again as I said before that it sucked without the glitch. The answer is obvious; the new DLC called "Bloodbath Arena". If you have played the DLC, you know that it's VERY good for getting loads of money. So it'd be at least a little like it used to be when it was released. We agreed that we'd start a new game in month or so (we wanted to play BF3 and the DLC was released November 22nd).

So we played BF3 for awhile and then on Christmas I asked if we could play it again as it was so funny in the first time. My friend's responses were, "nah we already got all the trophies".

I was like WTF, we all agreed that it was good and that we'd play it again, but they just started to bitch about trophies. For me personally the trophies kinda ruined the game, cause all my other friends didn't have the game and I always played with those guys anyways.

I just noticed that this became more of a bitching thread, but after all the shit that happened, I still enjoy the game, so if someone wants to play the game (PS3) add me on PSN. I'd like that you have the DLC and that you want to start a new game with a new character, however.

Share your experiences with here and please tell if you have had the same issues (especially with duplication glitch and trophy whore friends, cause what I've heard is that those are pretty common)

I never did the duplication glitch and I haven't played the game that often, I can relate to the trophy whore friends who don't like the game after they have all the trophies. It ruins it for me too when trophies is all that some people care about.

I used to do dupe glitch all day and make money off of them :p

Dead island seems like a good game, how much does it cost and where do you get it?
