The PlayStation move was a.. failure to say the least, with Kinect selling many more products. Now it looks as though Sony will be trying again, with a similar device to the XBOX Kinect.
A newly published patent has just revealed that Sony have begun work on a 3D camera that could possibly be part of the PS4.

The interesting thing is that the patent was posted last October, a full year after the Kinect was released.
The Kinect broke Guinness World Records for sales and dealt a stinging blow for Sony. Could they be trying to get back at Microsoft, or is this simply going to be another 'average' device to fill the gap at E3 this year?

The key words of the patent are:

..wherein the depth sensing device is a depth camera using controlled infrared lighting.

It would seem that the device will be very similar to the kinect, using Infared light to determine depth.

These drawings were also included in the patent (sorry for the logo's over em, but I couldn't find an image without them):

With the Microsoft Kinect already released and nowhere near its prime, PlayStation will have to do something special to make this stand out from the crowd.
Are you looking forward to this? Post below and as always have a nice day Smile

When I do my articles, I tend to use Franklin Gothic Medium. It looks really nice (in my opinion), and I've seen some other News Team members frequently use that font.
Other than that, great first report! Hope to see a lot more of you. Smile
