(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Minecraft: Pocket Edition was pretty boring up until now. There was no functionally to craft materials, which is what makes Minecraft appealing to so many. Update 0.3.0 has just been released, and it adds simplified, touch-based crafting, as well as Cows and Chickens!

The crafting system is called MATTIS: Minecraft Advanced Touch Technology Interface System. Just like the desktop version, you open your inventory and you can craft whatever you like! Just so long as you have the necessary components to make the new item. This update has been sought-after by many Minecraft fans looking to get the full experience away from their computers. With the growing power of mobile devices, soon enough the Pocket Edition may well be comparable to the desktop version.

Minecraft: Pocket Edition is available on Android and iOS mobile devices. It will set you back around $7 depending on your region and currency; however, the money will be well spent as future updates release, improving the game. I bought this game on my iPhone 4 a few months ago, and I wasn't overly impressed. I am yet to play it on version 0.3.0, however I can already guess that it will greatly improve the experience. 'Creative' is not so appealing to me. This update adds more of a 'Survival' feel, but not the complete experience. When that feature is added, I feel as though I will enjoy it and could possibly even play it more than on my PC. However, I don't think this will happen for a while. Mojang plans to continue work on the pocket edition, so it may arrive sooner rather than later. One thing that I find annoying about this app is the default controls. I am still struggling to adapt to them, and it is almost frustrating. My experience is from an iPhone screen, perhaps an iPad screen would be easier to use when navigating the world. Minecraft: Pocket Edition is still in the early development stages, and as with the desktop version, I think it will only get better. What's your opinion of this update? Have you tried it yet, or are you un-impressed by the pocket edition as a whole?
