Trailer/In game Montage by Grinding Gears on it

What is it?
It is an online action RPG that is essentially a dungeon crawler brought by Grinding Gears.

What sets it apart?
1. It is free. They plan on making money off of microtransactions that do not improve you performance in game, but instead are cool reskins of spells, or giving pets, and things of that nature.

2. There is no gold. Literally none. Instead it focuses on improving your equipment in every aspect. This makes for a very interesting experience. This also means there is no auction house in game, instead when you sell loot to NPC's they give you items that can improve equipment in some way, enchantments or quality, and you buy equipment with those as well. By doing this is creates a situation in which you are improving your equipment yourself and get to see it's progress. Unfortunately, it does make loot worthless for the most part as unless it is very good you will most likely not want to switch out.

3. Skills are attached to skill gems. Skill gems are items you can get for completing quests, and sometimes finding rarely from loot, that you attach to your equipment's skill gem slots. This, once again, puts heavy focus on your equipment and making sure it supports your skill gems. Skill gems level up as you gain experience, making them stronger. You can also get support gems that alter the affects of your skill gems.

4. The passive skill tree. There are 111 skills possible with a level cap at 100 skill points. There is a single skill tree, but depending on your class you start at different positions focusing on different attributes(Strength,Intelligence,Dexterity). For the most part the passives are standards increases (resistances, damage increase, mana/health increase, attack speed, etc...), with the exception of some interesting ones (such as eliminating mana and instead using health for spells)

What I like about it?
- The areas are fantastic. The ambiance is pretty good with really good visuals. It doesn't keep you in a basic area, within the first 20 minutes you should go from a shipwrecked beach, to a shabby town, to a bright beach, to a jungle with dinosaur like monsters. All the while, the levels are just visually appealing.

- You feel the impact of skills fairly well. It isn't the best impact at early levels, but as you get along the way you really do feel impact and it feels solid.

- The story is surprisingly good. When I first started the game I payed no attention to any story, but by the time I got to the first boss I was interested.

- The leveling up feels good. Because you may have 5 skill gems on at a time, that means there are 6 possible level up that can occur, creating a good sense of progression

- Going in a party with friends to go through dungeons and take down bosses is very satisfying, especially if you have multiple roles going on

What I don't like about it?
- It feels a little too linear at times. Not necessarily a bad thing, but it feels as if you are definitely guided.

- As awesome as the ambiance is, it seems like they could go just a bit further on it.

What is hit or miss?
- The gold could easily be a hit or miss depending on who you are. Either way I suggest just trying it out and seeing if you like their system, which I personally do.

Overall I'd easily recommend this game for anyone who likes the genre, is looking for an rpg to play with friends, or isn't sure if they like the genre. Just go to their website here You must login or register to view this content. , make an account, and then download the game.

It's pretty much what Diablo 3 should've been.. I'm absolutely in love with it (CI crit dagger Shadow) I like the fact that it has no gold which eliminates gold buying and a ruined economy.

In Flames Much?
Microtransactions part is interesting way too many games fall into the "buy to win" idea.

Good review Smile

I played this during the beta, not sure if its still in that state but its a decent game. By far, better then Diablo 3, but during the PoE beta, I had way too many lag spikes, became unplayable, but ill give it another go. Smile Was level 35+ btw.

One thing I absolutely hated was that after a second other players could pick up your drops lol.

Lag spikes seem far less common, as they are very rare for myself.

Good review Smile

Yeah, I feel that microtransactions can easily create a ditch for far too many games.
